1. She gives love and affection – no strings attached

Staying at your aunt’s house can be as pleasant as spending the day with your grandmother. She is the one who gives love and affection, however, without those day-to-day obligations or mothers’ ear pulling. “The aunts are a kind of supplement to the parents and can be alternative sources of fun and companionship”, explains psychologist Camila Santhiago, from Blumenau, Santa Catarina.

The feeling of affection begins at birth, and can be even more intense if the woman has no children or is the first nephew. “If there is respect and recognition with brothers and sisters-in-law, the relationship will be better with the child”, says Eliana Moreira, family therapist.

2. They are pure fun

They do not carry collection responsibility. Meetings are usually more fun, since there are no rules and obligations that exist in the daily routine with parents. The aunts are always available to take the child out of the house and only the child knows how to make the best cabin to camp on the couch. “The relationship is more fun and love, in a softer way”, says psychotherapist Cristiane Pertusi.

It is a safe haven for her”, says the psychotherapist.
