Grow greens, vegetables and fruits at home and have everything fresher at hand
1. First, provide the basic utensils. You will need…
· Shovel: To open holes in the ground.
· Scissors: To prune the plants.
· Gloves: To avoid catching diseases such as toxoplasmosis, touching fungi or pests, or getting hurt by thorns.
· Barbecue sticks: To support seedlings that are growing.
· Closures for packages such as those for loaf of bread: To attach the seedlings to the toothpicks.
2. Prepare the soil
Mix half soil and half organic compost or earthworm humus (a kind of “vitamin” for the plant). Dig small holes at the distance indicated for each species. If the vegetable garden is in vases, put stones or pottery shards in the bottom, so that the water drains more easily.
3. Grow your favorite vegetables
To be successful in the endeavor, respect the planting calendar (check the table on the next page for the recommended time for each vegetable). And don’t leave the plants in the pitch black. The darker the place, the closer to the window the seedlings should be placed.
4. Remember to water
To know the frequency, nothing better than using the “fingermeter”. If the earth is not dry, leave the watering can in the closet. Waterlogged plant becomes weak and prone to diseases, such as fungus – small plates under vases, therefore, must be abolished.
5. Bet on natural repellents
Insecticides also kill the good bugs – for example, exterminating the caterpillars will end the butterflies. In addition to organic options, you can plant marigolds. Another way to ward off pests is to attract birds.
