5 new habits to implement in 2023 –

A new year has begun! Usually with him we think about goals, new goals and habits to be implemented in order to actually live the life we dream of. We start motivated and excited, but we need to remember that the key to life is constancy.

What if I tell you that changes don’t need to be too big but persistent? That there won’t be motivation every day, so we need to align our values and find the purposes behind each goal. Nobody starts finishing a marathon before running the first 100 meters. So start with the basics that work. Start doing what you can, with what you have!

Nothing is an excuse: if it’s a lack of time, do it for 5 minutes; if it’s for money, adapt it at home; if it’s due to lack of organization, I encourage you to review your priorities; if it’s out of tiredness, learn to rest and not to give up and make it happen!

Here are 5 life-changing habits that you can start today:

Allow yourself to feel! Yes, mental health and emotional balance come first to lead a light, conscious and happy life! Feel all the feelings as they are, welcome your pains and joys, know that they will all pass and that everything will be fine. Know yourself, understand your emotional needs!
Create micro moments of pause during the day. You can even set an alarm clock to remind you to pause. At that moment take a deep breath 3 times, releasing the air through your mouth. Realize how you are, if you need something, relax your shoulders, release tensions! No spending a whole day without eating, without breathing, without going to the bathroom and without realizing the day goes by!!! I really want you to live the present moment and the pause space invites us to feel the here and now!
Implement some physical activity into your life. It could be a quick workout, stretching, yoga, anything! What’s worth is moving!!! And not for calories or weight loss, but for health, after all, movement improves our mood, reduces stress and anxiety. The beginning can be boring, but it’s always worth it (even if you don’t feel that good feeling afterwards, just having met the goal is already an incredible step).
Plan your routine for the week. Those who don’t plan and don’t get organized end up being swallowed by the rush of everyday life, so take some time and get organized. Make yourself a priority, leave some time aside for you to take care of yourself, to meet friends, to spend time with your family, to work, to exercise, to rest, to study, to shop, to deal with the house… Write everything down, it can be in an agenda, planner, journal, whatever suits you best! The important thing is to update it every week, see if it works for you and make the necessary adjustments.
Read different books! There’s nothing like reading a little bit before bed! Helps to get off the cell phone, get into sleep hygiene and sleep better. Reading makes us great as people, it can teach us a lot and/or take us to places we never imagined. Reading increases our vocabulary, increases our awareness, our imagination, our creativity. Read whatever you feel like, start, even if it’s one page a day!

As Shakespeare once said, “Plant your garden and decorate your soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.”
