5-minute meditation: the practice that will change your day –

Everyday life is hectic, dynamic and often doesn’t stop. This means that we are the ones who must set the limits on running around – which is not always easy. However, the meditation is a solution to this: investing in a few moments of silence at the beginning of the day can make all the difference.

WHAT IS MEDITATION AND WHAT IS IT FOR?

“Meditation is about finding greater meaning in life”, explains the yoga teacher Flavia Schuler, from the Urban Yoga School. “We are so used to being distracted by external events that we distance ourselves from our essence, our intuition and our mission. Meditation was created millennia ago by monks, who are not just people living in monasteries. Being a monk is an awareness of the mono, of the one, a connection with the infinite, which aims to unite the body, mind and soul, and become whole. It’s training from the inside out, organizing your life in a simple, full and meaningful way.”

In other words, much more than controlling anxiety and daily hustlethe purpose of meditation is to promote a reunion with oneself and a place of internal calm, more in tune with who we really are.

That’s why you don’t need 40-minute sessions right off the bat to enjoy the benefits of meditation. Just a few moments of self-observation are enough to bring us closer to this posture.

“In the first meditation sessions you already feel the benefits, the feeling of peace and well-being that just a few minutes of break can provide in your day is immediate”, continues the teacher. “With constant practice, the benefits become even more visible, and your life really changes.”

For the professional, when changing her point of view and organize your emotions through meditation, people can get to know the workings of their own minds and obtain lasting results more easily.

“If you want changes in your life, it is essential to know yourself, connect and be aware of everything you think, say and do. A life built in the now for a bright future tomorrow”, he says.

HOW TO START MEDITATE?

Those who have never meditated before and want to start practicing need not be afraid: all you need to meditate is a body and a brain. Next, it’s just important to pick a time of day and a place where you won’t be interrupted.

“A few minutes can bring great benefits. You, when you feel good, also want to do good and your energy changes. People feel it and you end up attracting good things into your life”, explains Flavia.

It is also important, in this beginning, to have the right tools. There are many free and paid apps that feature guided meditations for beginners. YouTube is another good source of information, with numerous quick lessons for those who want to start with the practice – and that easily fit into their routine.

“Start with short guided meditations and, slowly, increase the time as it is possible to fit into your routine”, says the teacher. “There are different types of meditation, try a few to find out which method touches your heart. Invest in yourself, it’s worth being happy every day!”

Oh, and a tip: before starting the meditation itself, it’s worth experimenting with some breathing exercises, which work as an anchor for the mind, reinforcing the connection with the body and with the present moment.
