5 Foods That Leave Your Hair Greasy And 3 That Prevent The Problem

When we need to deal with oily hair, we usually end up using special shampoos, hiding the strands in ponytails or washing the locks even more than once a day. But there are other tricks that can help fight the extra oiliness of the scalp without having to make a lot of effort. Eating certain foods, for example, can decrease the amount of fat produced in the head region. Others may end up aggravating the problem.

O awesome.club prepared a list of foods that you should avoid and others that are better to include in your diet to forget about oily hair once and for all.

Foods you should avoid

1. Sugar

Hormones act as our body’s messengers, helping to control almost every process that takes place in our body. Therefore, they must be kept in balance. And sugar does not help this process at all. In fact, it has the opposite effect, creating an imbalance. The product affects the body’s inflammatory processes and increases blood glucose levels, causing the glands to produce more oil.

2. Refined carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are divided into healthy (or complex) and harmful (or simple) ones. A good example of a refined food rich in these elements is bread: white bread, made from refined grains, is softer and more spongy than whole wheat bread. It is clear that refined grains are processed by manufacturers in order to make food lighter and less heavy.

The bad thing is that these carbohydrates burden our bodies with the work of digestion. And this causes the sebaceous glands to produce excess fat, which contributes to leaving the scalp oily.

3. Fried foods

Any fried food, especially those prepared in a lot of oil, like fast food, overloads our body with fat, due to the excessive stimulation of the sebaceous glands. The oil produced affects our skin, including the scalp.

That’s why eating a hamburger at night can make your hair really sticky a few hours later. You need to avoid these foods not only to have a healthy diet, but also to keep your hair cleaner.

4. Dairy products

As odd as it sounds, dairy products can also be to blame for excessive oil production. This is because foods like milk, butter and cheese are digested by our bodies in the form of fat and oil. As a result, our hair becomes greasy and sticky, not to mention the appearance of acne on the face. These products even contain ingredients linked to the hormone testosterone, which affects the production of extra fat in the scalp.

That’s why having a glass of warm whole milk at night can make you urgently need to wash your hair in the morning.

5. Salt

Excessive consumption of salt causes swelling, bags under the eyes, dandruff and generalized dehydration of the body. The latter causes the body to produce more oil and fat to compensate for the lack of water. Again, it all ends up in greasy, sticky hair, especially in people who tend to have the problem. So avoid exaggerating salt intake.

Products you can eat without fear

1. Foods rich in vitamins B and E

2. Foods Rich in Zinc

Our organism needs zinc in small amounts, and this mineral is not stored in our body. The good news is that the consumption of products rich in this element can combat the production of oiliness. Zinc can be obtained through dietary supplements. However, it is also available in natural foods such as oats, eggs and seafood.

3. Healthy fats

Having hair that tends to get greasy doesn’t mean you have to give up eating any and all fat. After all, fats are important for the proper functioning of our bodies. But we need to reduce the consumption of saturated and trans fats. They are easily identified as they tend to remain solid at room temperature. Margarine, butter, and animal fat are examples of trans fats. Replace them with “healthy” fats like nuts, vegetable oils and some types of fish.
