30 Years after the end of “Top Model” see how its main characters are doing (and remember the soundtrack)

It was particularly successful among teenagers, who identified with the topics addressed. Parental separation, fashion world, early pregnancy and the first time of many things that happen in adolescence were the pillars of all this success.

The music that accompanied graffiti artist Lucas Pasolini’s appearances was Ocean, by singer-songwriter Djavan. Taumaturgo Ferreira’s character fled to Rio de Janeiro in an attempt to outwit the São Paulo police, as he had been involved in a crime. He was also looking to find out who his father was, which could be Gaspar or Alex Kundera.

Junior was an asthmatic boy, who loved horror movies, and was ignored by his father, Alex Kundera. Because of that, he ended up spending a lot of time at Gaspar’s house with his cousins. During the plot, the boy helped Lucas and Duda in their troubled romance.

Gaspar was an ex-hippie, a remnant of the movement beatnik and a solo father of five children, each from a different woman. Lover The Beatles and Rolling Stones, was laid-back, accessible and treated his children’s discoveries very naturally. The character’s soundtrack was stairway to heavenby Led Zeppelin and Hey Jude in a version by Kiko Zambianchi.

The telenovela’s teenage core was fun and spoke to the young audience, who identified with the characters. Being children of divorced parents, having step-siblings, waking up to your first love, having your first kiss; even before Malhação, the telenovela Top Model already addressed important issues characteristic of the end of childhood and puberty. The soundtrack of teenagers was stay, by the band Oingo Boingo.

Elvis was the eldest of Gaspar’s children, a typical surfer, healthy, a lover of sports and the sea, but little “connected to studies” — he became a heartthrob teen of the time.

Speaking of stereotypes, Tininha was the typical surfer girlfriend: sporty, pretty and tanned. In real life, Adriana Esteves was one of the three finalists in the contest Top Modelof domingão Faustão🇧🇷 Before that, he was acting. Gaspar’s intellectual son—he was very concerned about his father’s financial situation. He was in the phase of the great discoveries of puberty, mainly those related to sexuality. In Ringo’s appearances, you could hear Nêga Bombom.

Gaspar Kundera’s youngest son was spoiled by everyone, including his brothers. His closest relationship was with his brother Ringo, who actually took care of him. An inseparable friend of his was the dog Maradona, with whom he had countless adventures.

A former Covery model, Carla was fired when Alex Kundera found out that she was the wife of Raul (played by Alexandre Frota), the agency/clothing photographer. When Suzy Rêgo’s character shone, she played the music Heaven.

At that time, telenovelas had two soundtrack albums (or CDs, or cassette tapes): one with national songs and the other with international ones. And people were anxious waiting for the release of these works. It was a magical time!
