3 tricks for coffee to be an ally (and not an enemy) of weight loss –

One of the most consumed drinks in the world and in Brazil, coffee is a great ally for those who live a busy routine and need energy extra. But did you know that it can help with weight loss too? Here, we list 4 pieces of advice to make the cups with the dark liquid become good friends of the diet (and not enemies):

1. Prepare your coffee at home

It can be tempting to walk into a coffee shop to buy one. macchiato or one mochabut that might not be the best idea if you want lose weight. We don’t always know all the ingredients added to the drink, which can make it much more caloric. What starts out as a plan to buy a simple coffee can easily turn into a great cappuccino with vanilla, whipped cream and everything in between – adding up to around 800 calories! Therefore, preparing coffee at home can be an alternative intelligent to guarantee your drink without sabotaging the diet.

2. Drink only in the morning

Caffeine affects your sleep – which plays a important role in weight loss. If you consume coffee in the afternoon or evening, there’s a good chance you won’t be able to fall asleep as easily at the proper time. A study carried out bythe University of Chicago showed that lack of sleep has many negative effects on the body, including an increased risk of diabetes and obesity. Limiting your coffee after a certain time (around 11am, for example) can have a positive influence on your sleep and waist!

3. Consume 400 mg of caffeine (or less) for energy and metabolism boost

The amount of 400 mg of caffeine (the equivalent of two cups of coffee) per day can help with diet. “Of course, drink alone does not have the power to to lose weightbut it generates a thermogenesis that works as an ally”, explains Flávia Sgavioli, a functional nutritionist at Clínica Internamente, in São Paulo. According to the expert, ingesting more than that amount – which is the maximum recommended for most adults – is linked to problems such as arrhythmia, irritability, stomach pain and other negative symptoms.
