“My girlfriend took this photo of the moon through a telescope last night. Could someone tell me what those purple dots on the right are?”

Nothing so weird. It’s just a reflection of one of the lenses. And we were already believing in the existence of another civilization …

“Driving down the highway I saw this gigantic thing. It had the Mitsubishi logo on it.”

It is Mitsubishi Sulfur Hexafluoride High Voltage Circuit Breakers. They provide electrical protection by cutting the current in the event of accidents caused, for example, by lightning striking an electricity line.
