15 Times Strangers Became True Superheroes

Sometimes seemingly small and irrelevant attitudes taken by one person are capable of having a big impact on the life of another. Whether in the form of sweet and kind words, or an umbrella borrowed during a heavy rain, good deeds can cause a ripple effect, making the beneficiary feel the desire to also do good to someone else.

We, from incredible.club, we love these 15 stories starring individuals determined to help complete strangers. They show that no one needs superpowers to be considered a superhero.

A little dog (named Meadow) spent more than a week lost. At the time, it was snowing and very cold, so the whole city went out to search, but without success. Faced with this, the owner decided to test his luck by posting a photo of the lost animal on the local Reddit page. An unknown platform user responded immediately, offering his drone to search for her. Hopes, however, were already fading by then, as the search had already lasted ten days. But then Meadow’s owner got a notification on Reddit informing him of the pet’s location! Brian (the unknown) rejected the reward equivalent to R$ 2,600, preferring to donate the amount to an animal shelter in the city. butterscotcheggs / Reddit

I was at Disney with my parents, and they decided to take a walk to see the street shows. Everything started to go wrong when a little girl was chosen to throw a bowling pin. She missed the mark, throwing it right into my 13-year-old face. I just turned my face and waited for the impact, however, it never happened. I heard the audience gasp and applaud as the boy typing on his cell phone next to me managed to grab the pin, inches short of hitting me. I was too shocked to say thank you, my parents pulled me over and I couldn’t find my savior in the night anymore. classygal / Reddit

Once, when I was in college, I went to market, but my card didn’t go through. It was really a problem, as my kitchen was completely empty and I wouldn’t receive any money until the following week. It was really embarrassing to be in that queue, with R$500 worth of groceries, hurriedly talking to my girlfriend about how we were going to handle it. Well that’s when the man behind us in line offered to pay for our stuff. I tried to refuse, but he insisted, while I was more embarrassed to be holding up the queue. I thanked him effusively, and he told me, “Just reciprocate when you get the chance someday.” Since then, I’ve dropped some money into every donation box I see, tipped an extra 5%, offered to help the homeless, and am always on the lookout for opportunities to “give back.” synthesizerToady / Reddit

One day, when I was getting off the bus, during high school, the person in the car behind decided not to wait and try to overtake on the left. I was almost run over, but moments before, a man getting into a car whistled at me. I stopped and turned to see who it was. That attitude certainly saved me from being run over. BAM225 / Reddit

Back when I was in college, I saw a girl outside one of the classrooms having a severe meltdown. Out of the blue, as I was walking to my class, she said to him, “you look like you could use a hug”. She stopped pacing, stared at me for a moment, and then gave me one of the most desperate hugs I’ve ever received. I then asked if there was anything else I could do for her, and she said she was having a panic attack. Her only desire at that time was to go home. However, her bag and all her books were in the classroom. I went there and said: “my sister is not feeling well, so I came here to get her things”. I gave everything to the girl, and she thanked me profusely. WorkinAndLurkin / Reddit

I didn’t have the best childhood. My adoptive father had unconventional parenting methods, and I used to cry a lot. On one of these occasions, I found myself sitting on a park bench crying alone. An elderly lady sat at the other end of the bench, and we sat there in relative silence for a few minutes. She noticed I was wiping my eyes, and asked if I was okay. I said yes, but she insisted on taking me to a nearby cafe and buying me a cup of hot chocolate. It was the kindest thing she could have done for me, and it was really nice to know that someone cared. BeyondA*** / Reddit

When I was 18, I was out with my brother and some friends one day when we got a flat tire in the rain. None of us had ever changed a tire before, so we were left staring at the spare tire, fumbling with the “tools of the change”, as water crept up our legs. Suddenly, out of nowhere, an executive in a suit pulled up and got out of his SUV, changed our tire in about 30 seconds. We thanked him, and he ran back, completely soaked, into his SUV. n1ch0la5 / Reddit

When I was about 10 years old, I used to go skiing on weekends with the ski club people. There were a lot of kids, between 8 and 16 years old. I remember the first, and only, trip I took with the group. I was absolutely terrified. Everyone seemed to already know each other. I got on the bus and sat there, doing my best not to burst into tears with fear and anxiety. An older boy sat next to me, which certainly didn’t help with my unfounded feelings of inferiority. But he looked at me and just said, “Are you scared? Don’t worry, man. Will be all right”. I can’t explain the size of the relief those words brought me. I never thanked the kid, and I think he had little idea of the impact he made. DuttyW*** / Reddit

When I was about 4 years old, my family and I went skiing. With my older sister, I took the two-person cable car, but I started to curl up in the seat and slide my butt forward. Before I knew it, I was slipping under the bar. My sister caught me by the wrist before I fell, and I ended up hanging, holding onto her hand. She wasn’t strong enough to pull me back, but by then, the cable car had stopped. A man came skiing over and told me to get rid of my skis. Then he told me to let go. The fall was big for a 4-year-old, but I let go of my sister’s hand and the man grabbed me. Simple as that, nothing more. DTLMurphy / Reddit

I went to visit my sister in Japan. One day while she was at work, I decided to take her bicycle to explore the small town where she lived. She was taking a walk when, all of a sudden, the rear tire burst. I started pushing the bike and, out of nowhere, a Japanese guy stopped his truck, put the bike on the back and told me to get in the passenger seat. In broken English he said he would help me. He took me to the bike shop and fixed my tire. Apparently, he owned the workshop. SDSF / Reddit

Once, when I was about six years old, I was playing wrestling with my younger brother in the front seat of my dad’s truck while he was at the video store returning a movie. The vehicle had a manual transmission and was parked at the top of a very steep hill. One of us hit the handbrake, releasing it, and the truck started down the street. I realized we were going downhill, but it was too small to know what to do. Suddenly, a man ran towards the car, opened the door and pulled the handbrake, interrupting the journey. That man didn’t say a single word to us. d***down / Reddit

I was returning from a year doing volunteer work in India, and the flight had a long layover in Zurich. I wanted to see some of the city, but I was almost out of money. On the flight, I chatted with two young women who were getting a ride into town with the father of one of them. He insisted on paying for my breakfast, showed me where I could get a free bicycle, and even made me keep 20 CHF for lunch. This gentleman told me he had already been through the same situation.
