15 Little Prayers For When You Want To Talk To God But Don’t Know What To Say

For when your heart is in pieces.

Dear God, my heart is breaking. Everything hurts. Everything I thought would work didn’t. Everything I loved let me down. The person I gave all my soul to walked away. And I don’t have the strength to take it anymore. I feel like giving up.

Please help me find strength in You. Please take this pain and show me how to let go. Help me to forgive, to start over, to trust that this brokenness is part of your plan. God, help me to see new beginnings.

Dear Lord, I come to You with a saddened heart. I come to You in and I confess that I am dying of shame.

I come to You with my head down and my heart heavy. I know I made a mistake. I feel horrible and it’s hard to even stand before the Lord right now. I know you want the best for me; I know you want me to live in your ways, but sometimes it’s really hard.

I need your help.

Please take these burdens off my shoulders. Please take my shame and throw it away. Please forgive my sin (tell me what the sin is) and help me to see your light, to have hope in your grace.

Father, I believe that you gave your son to die for my sins and the sins of this world. I believe that your Son Jesus came to earth, was born of a virgin, was crucified, died on a cross and rose again for me. I believe His purpose was to save us and prepare a place in Heaven for us when we die.

God, take this anger, take this frustration, take these angry words out of my mouth and throw them away. Help me calm down. Help me breathe. Help me to feel all this emotion I’m feeling and release it in a healthy way.

I am very angry right now. I want to scream and punch and kick and let the world know how I’m feeling. But you already know what I’m feeling. You know all the longings of my heart.

Dear God, I’m not sure what to say. This is my first time doing this and to be honest it feels a little weird. But I want to talk to you, so here goes…

God, I’m speechless. I don’t understand why the Lord did this. Why did you take away a person I loved, why did you give a diagnosis that is life-changing, why does it feel like you abandoned me in my time of greatest need.

I feel broken and I need you. I need you now more than ever.

Please hold my heart in your hands. Please don’t let my pain take you away from me. Please take care of me, love me, save me from the emptiness in my chest. I need your grace, strength and healing. I need to know that you are still here and always will be. Amen.

Dear God, I don’t know what I’m doing. I feel stuck, facing a difficult decision, and I have no idea what to do. I need your guidance.

Lord, I don’t understand your plan or your purpose. I don’t understand why I’ve been going through so much turmoil in my life or what lesson you want me to learn. I want to trust you, but I confess I’m angry. I’m not sure.

I have a lot of doubts right now.

Please heal my heart. Please help me see your purpose. Help me to understand, over time, why, even if it seems very unclear now. I’m trusting you. Amen.

For when you think He’s not listening to you.

God, it doesn’t seem like the Lord is listening to me. I feel like I’m talking to an empty sky, or just to myself. I want to know you’re here. I want to know that my words aren’t just evaporating into thin air. I want to know that I’m not alone, because honestly, I feel alone right now.

God, show me you’re here. Help me to trust that you are listening and to find solace in your word. I know you are a merciful God. Please remind me of this, and remind me that you will never leave me when I feel in doubt. Amen.

Dad, I don’t know what to do. I’m terrified of moving on. I’m scared of what could happen when I walk out that door.

I need you to stay by my side and strengthen me. I need you to build my heart back to its mighty state. I need you to work in me and through me to show me that I can overcome this fear. Please stay with me. I need you. Amen.

For when you want to strengthen your relationship with Him.

Dear Lord, I love you. I love everything you’ve done for me. I love all the ways you made me, me. I love how you enriched my life with people, situations, lessons and care.

Help me to walk in your ways all the days of my life. Help me to always come back to you when I want to walk away. Help me to be an encouragement to others and a beacon of hope to those who are suffering.

Use me for your purpose and continually strengthen my faith in your name.
