15 Guest Artists Who Went On “Grey’s Anatomy” And Left Their Mark on the Series

Grey’s Anatomy just released its 16th season. With 345 episodes (so far), the attraction made history by becoming the longest-running medical drama series on television, beating medical duty. Over the years, a number of guest stars have passed through the gates of Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital, including some veteran actresses such as Rita Moreno and Faye Dunaway. However, a few others who were starting to rise in their careers also had an opportunity, such as Millie Bobby Brown and singer Demi Lovato.

O awesome.club wants to share with you a list of 15 artists who participated in the acclaimed series Grey’s Anatomy as guests.

During the third season, Abigail Breslin played Megan, a young woman insensitive to pain, who is therefore unaware of the severity of her injuries. After letting a schoolmate hit her in the stomach with a baseball bat 25 times, she undergoes surgery for her internal injuries and is treated by Dr. Alex Karev.

Rosanna Arquette was one of the first guest stars on the series. She appeared in a season two episode playing Constance Ferguson, a prisoner who swallows razor blades to be admitted to the hospital.

Kyle Chandler played Dylan Young in two episodes. In the first, he was present during the bombing of the hospital. Young, a top member of the Seattle Police Department’s Bomb Squad, dies when the explosive detonates in his arms. In season three, he reappears in Meredith Gray’s visions when she has a near-death experience. According to series creator Shonda Rhimes, Dylan Young is the only character she regrets not staying on the show.

In the same episode of the bomb attack, the renowned actress Christina Ricci appeared, who played Hannah. Her character was a young paramedic who, trying to stop the bleeding of an injured patient, inserts her hand into the wound. Then she holds the explosive inside the man and, to prevent it from exploding, must remain practically immobile.

Before starring in The Handmaid’s Tale, Elisabeth Moss was one of the guest stars on Grey’s Anatomy. In 2007, she played Nina Rogerson, the daughter of a patient who needed to undergo risky surgery to save her life.

The late Edward Herrmann is remembered for playing Richard Gilmore in Gilmore Girls. However, he also participated in three episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. The actor appeared as Norman Shales, “The World’s Oldest Intern”, in the third season. The character decided to become a doctor after working for thirty years as a pharmacist. After being part of a surgery with Alex Karev, Shales suffers a stroke and decides to transfer to a psychology residency.

Renowned Hollywood actress Faye Dunaway played Dr. Margaret Campbell, the first surgeon at Seattle Grace Hospital. After several confrontations with Dr. Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) and an incident in a surgery during which a patient ends up injured, Campbell decides it’s time to retire from medicine.

Early in her career, singer and actress Demi Lovato played Hayley May in the series. The young woman has a bad time in the hospital after being misdiagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Later, the doctors get the diagnosis right and May is able to recover after the surgery.

Being an established singer and actress, Moore first appeared on the series at the end of the sixth season. Her character arrives at the hospital for a routine colostomy bag reversal surgery on the day the hospital closes due to a gunman in the building. Instead of the operation, she chooses to travel and postpone the necessary procedure for six months. However, her story has a sad ending: she ends up in a coma after the surgery and her husband finally removes her life support.

Two years before the series Stranger Things lead her to stardom, Millie Bobby Brown appeared in Grey’s Anatomy playing Ruby, a girl who is forced to call the hospital and ask for help after her mother fell and hit her head during an earthquake.

Wilmer Valderrama appeared in the show’s 12th season as Kyle Diaz, a guitarist who enters the hospital after a hand tremor, forcing him to postpone his tour. He is eventually diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and, during the surgery, remains awake while playing guitar. In the penultimate episode of the season, he comes back with what appears to be meningitis, but his condition is more complicated than the doctors expected.

The legendary Rita Moreno played Gayle McColl in a season 12 episode. The Hollywood actress played the ex-wife of a patient who was in a car accident and does not remember that he is no longer married to her. While her ex-husband is on the mend, Gayle decides she wants to get back together with him.

Before playing Negan in the series The Walking Deadactor Jeffrey Dean Morgan appeared in 23 episodes over three different seasons of Grey’s Anatomy as Denny Duquette, a heart patient who falls in love with Dr. Izzie Stevens. Despite receiving a heart transplant, he ends up dying as a result of a stroke. After his death, he returns as a ghost of sorts when he appears to Meredith after she nearly drowns in season three. And during the fifth, he appears several times to Izzie when she has cancer.

In a season six episode, actress Sarah Paulson played Ellis Gray, Meredith’s mother. The chapter recalls a case from 1982, in which a patient was diagnosed with the HIV virus, which at the time was a total mystery.

Today, Tessa Thompson is recognized for her performance in the films black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok. However, in 2006 she appeared in the show’s second season as Camille Travis, niece of Dr. Richard Webber, who enters the hospital after passing out while having sex on the night of his graduation party. Camille finds out she has ovarian cancer, so in the season finale, her uncle decides to organize another graduation party inside the hospital.
