Disney has been creating movies with different themes for many years. Some have simpler plots, while others have a more complicated and even emotional plot that — although very young children cannot always capture all the details — thrill viewers of all ages. But there is something that brings almost all of the studio’s films together: they are full of subliminal messages and references to other stories, aspects that often go unnoticed by most audiences.
we, from awesome.clubwe love Disney and its movies, so we prepared a list with some details that not even the biggest fans can notice.
1. In the movie Finding Nemo there is a reference to the movie The Incredibles
During the scene in which the animals seem to have gone crazy, while the dentist attends to his niece Darla, the boy who is in the waiting room and is scared by the screams has in his hands a magazine of Mr. Incredible, protagonist of the film that would be released shortly afterwards.
2. It is very common for them to include in the films some clues of the upcoming premieres
In 2009, the production company premiered the film Up — Altas Aventuras with great success. In the scene in which the house flies past a girl’s bedroom window, it is possible to see Lotso the bear next to her bed, the protagonist character of the third film in the Toy Story franchise that would premiere in 2010. Something similar happens in the witch’s house in movie Valente, which premiered in 2012. In it, it is possible to see in one of the wooden objects the character Sulley, protagonist of Monsters University, which would premiere the following year.
3. The names on Woody and Buzz’s boots are not the same person
In Toy Story 2 we discover that Woody is a very old doll, therefore very desired by collectors. That is, most likely it was acquired much earlier than Andy’s other toys; with this, the creators of the saga were stating that before being owned by Andy the son, it belonged to Andy the father, so the signatures are different.
4. Chief Collette has a scar on her forearm
Disney really doesn’t stitch without a knot. In this case, the animators added a small and very characteristic detail to this character who works in a kitchen, to give her even more realism and credibility. It is very common for real cooks and cooks to have small burns on their forearms, after all they can get hurt when taking or putting a dish on the fire or in the oven.
5. We never got to know Cinderella’s real name
We know the names of Snow White, Belle, Jasmin, Ariel and Aurora, but the name Cinderella is nothing more than a nickname that the stepmother decided to give her stepdaughter. Its meaning would be something like “full of ashes” (dirty), an allusion to her condition as a maid in the house. Her real name remains a mystery, as does her prince’s.
6. The pizzeria truck in Toy Story appears in almost every movie that came out afterward
Few people realized it, but the famous Pizza Planet pizza truck appears in almost every movie that came after Toy Story. In the image above, we see: 1. His first appearance in Toy Story; 2. In Valente; 3. In Monsters University; 4. On WALL-E; 5. In A Bug’s Life and 6. In Finding Nemo.
And the list doesn’t end there. In addition to the films already mentioned, the truck can also be seen in Cars, Up — High Adventures, The Incredibles 2, Luca, Soul, Finding Dory, among others.
7. The sun on Eric’s face makes him think Ariel is brunette
More than one spectator wondered how Prince Eric could mistake Ariel for the human version of Ursula, given that there are many different aspects: one is red-headed and has blue eyes and the other is brunette and has dark eyes. This confusion happens because the only image he has in memory of her is when he saw her on the beach, but at that moment he had just regained consciousness and the sun was too strong.
8. Pocahontas is the only Disney princess to have a tattoo
The tattoo on Pocahontas’ right arm is not hidden and is not a secret to anyone. However, it is a rather peculiar detail, as she is the only tattooed Disney princess. The film is inspired by a true story of the daughter of the chief of the Powhatan tribe, for whom tattoos were commonplace for both men and women.
9. The pirate movie seller in Zootopia: This Town is the Beast has “animal” versions of several Disney hits
The big studios don’t miss the opportunity to show us, subtly or not, which are their other films that are already available or that will premiere soon. That’s what happens in Zootopia: This City is the Beast. In it, some films adapted into “animal” versions are presented, including Operation Big Hero, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph and Moana — A Sea of Adventures.
10. They think of the smallest details to make the animations more natural
If we look closely at the calendar in which Mike Wazowski counts the days left for the final exam, we notice how the red tone of the “x” is not the same. The older, drier “x’s” are darker, which clearly differentiates them from the fresher, more vivid red of the newer marking.
11. Lilo has a Mulan poster in her room
This movie has something in common with Brother Bear, as both were made at Disney’s Orlando Studios before it was fully turned into a theme park. In fact, Mulan was the first, and it debuted before Lilo & Stitch. In Lilo’s room, you can see a poster of her predecessor hanging on the wall.
12. Not everything is 100% fantasy, many things are inspired by reality
Within the imaginary worlds that animators create for their stories are many places inspired by real environments. Landscapes, castles, cityscapes or, as in this case, a train station. When Wreck-It Ralph characters want to get out of the games, they travel through the power grid until they reach Central Station, from which they can go to every other game in the room. The station’s appearance was inspired by the bustling and beautiful New York Central Station.
13. Elastigirl has reactions very close to a real mother
A lot of moms seem to have a lot of eyes and see everything before it even happens, and that’s what happens to Helen Parr, the mother in The Incredibles. In the scene in the image above, she and her children had just fallen out of the plane; she seems to guess something is going to fall on them, so she pushes them away. When we look at the scene in slow motion we see how she sees the reflection of the object falling into the water. A beautiful example of how mothers are always attentive to everything that is happening around their children.
14. Buzz batteries are the same brand as WALL-E robot
In Toy Story 3, Buzz undergoes a disfigurement and begins to behave strangely. As his friend Woody tries to get him back to normal, he shows off his stacks, which are Buy n Large branded. In the movie WALL-E, this company is the manufacturer of both the main robot in charge of cleaning the planet, as well as the special cruise ships that shelter humans in space.
15. Disney has recognized that, in one way or another, all of its films are connected to each other
After so many years including appearances of elements of some films in others, many fans began to create theories about a possible interconnection between all of them, even thinking about the possibility that there could be a Disney multiverse in which all stories develop in parallel. Something similar was created by Marvel and their superhero movies. Pixar, through an official video on the networks of the Toy Story saga, confirmed that these theories are not that crazy and acknowledged that there is a certain connection between all their films.
