14 Artists Who Stayed Away From Fame Then Came Back In Style

The career of an actor or actress is not at all easy, precisely because the artist is on the rise at one time, and at another, not having that much success with a job. And this time of “skinny cows” can last for years or decades, until the famous gets a great role that brings him back his former fame.

1. Leticia Colin

Letícia Colin began her career on TV as Kailane, in Malhação and, soon after, she was Glorinha, in the series Sandy & Júnior. Although she has not been out of work, she has made several guest appearances throughout her career. In the soap operas Novo Mundo and Segundo Sol she was a supporting character who ended up shining more than some protagonists. For her excellent work, in 2021, Letícia won an important role in Nos Tempos do Imperador, as Empress Leopoldina.

2. Gutta Stresser

Guta Stresser shone for more than a decade as Bebel, one of the protagonists of the series A Grande Família and, after this work, the actress made small appearances in plots such as Malhação and Mister Brau, always in a supporting role. Guta shone again in 2020 in the film Valentina, in which she plays Márcia, the mother of a trans teenager. The famous also wrote a children’s book called ‘My little Coxa-branca’.

3. Erik Marmo

The heartthrob Erik Marmo began to be successful with Malhação, in 2000 and had great performances in the soap operas Mulheres Apaixonadas, Sete Pecados and Begin de Novo. In the early 2010s, he moved to the United States. There, the actor has played starring and supporting roles in films and series such as: Dream of Love, BitterSweet and The Purge. The artist was also presenter of the program Planeta Brasil, on Globo Internacional.

4. Carla Diaz

Carla Diaz played little Maria, in Chiquititas, and shone in the telenovela O Clone as Khadija, with the unforgettable catchphrase: ‘Inshallah, much gold’. After that, she came to do other TV roles in supporting or small roles. In 2021, she was chosen for the cast of Big Brother Brasil and, in the same year, starred in two films: The Girl who Killed the Parents and The Boy who Killed My Parents, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video, in the same year.

5. Fernanda Souza

Fernanda Souza enchanted everyone in the 1990s as the orphan Mili, from the soap opera Chiquititas Brasil. After the plot, she continued to be successful in some other serials such as: The Prophet, That Kiss and Malhação. The actress also starred in the series Toma Lá, Dá Cá (2007 — 2009) and the program Nova Escolinha by Professor Raimundo. In 2021, she shines again as a Netflix contract, presenting a cooking show, Fernanda is also a youtuber and has almost 2 million subscribers on her channel.

6. Mario Gomes

Heartthrob Mário Gomes was a model and his first big job on TV was in Gabriela. Today, he has more than 30 successful soap operas on his resume. What few people know is that Mário has always been an entrepreneur and that in the 1980s he opened a sports clothing factory. In 2017, he made the news when he was discovered selling sandwiches on a beach in Rio de Janeiro. After that, he was again invited to make films and series such as: Amigo de Aluguel and Magnifica 70.

7. Danni Suzuki

Danni Suzuki was successful in Malhação (2003) and also became famous for her performance in soap operas such as: Bang Bang, Pé na Jaca and Viver a Vida. After that, she made some special appearances and years later returned to shine in Malhação, as teacher Roberta. In 2020, she joined the cast of the series Arcanjo Renegado and Desjuntados. In 2021, she was invited to present the reality show O Plano é Esse. During an interview, she said that she once had her own tattoo parlor and sold food and jewelry.

8. Carol Duarte

The actress started in theater at the age of 15, but her big debut was on TV in the role of Ivana/Ivan, a character from the soap opera A Força do Querer🇧🇷 that led Brazil to reflect on gender identity. His most recent works were the series Segunda Chamada and the film A Vida Invisível. In 2021, she was also invited to be part of the special Letras de Pride LGBTQIA +, with other celebrities, to talk about diversity.

9. Nuno Leal Maia

Nuno Leal Maia began his career in the 1970s and was very successful in telenovelas such as: A Gata Comeu, Vamp, O Prophet and Malhação. Nuno stayed away from TV for a while and returned with full force in 2019 in the series: Juacas (Disney Channel), Chuteira Preta (Prime Video) and Bugados (Gloob), in which he plays a wizard. In 2021, he premiered the film How to Hack Your Boss and told in an interview that he is very active, practices yoga and swimming at Leme beach, in Rio de Janeiro.

10. Fernanda Nobre

Fernanda Nobre was an angel in the plot of A Viagem and a villain in Malhação, the unforgettable Bia. She shone on Record TV in the soap operas Caminhos do Coração and Os Mutantes. She stayed away for a while and then returned with all her determination to Rede Globo’s plots: Deus Salve o Rei (2018) and Um Lugar ao Sol (2021). In her personal life, she told in an interview about her open relationship with her husband, theater director José Roberto Jardim.

11. Julia Almeida

Júlia Almeida started on TV in the 1990s, but it was only in 2000 that she started to shine in soap operas such as Laços de Família, Mulheres Apaixonadas and Caminho das Índias. The actress had some health problems, but returned to acting, and her most recent work was in Tempo de Amar, as the mysterious Eva Dantas. Since she married photographer Sebastian Bailey, Júlia has lived in the US and later settled in England, where she launched her swimwear brand Florita Beachwear.

12. Jackeline Petkovic

Almost everyone who was born in the 1990s and 2000s remembers this little blonde who started the morning by opening the programs Bom Dia & Cia and Saturday Animado, in addition to having also presented the fun Fantasia. After that, the artist made some appearances in films, series and programs, in addition to working as a dubbing artist. In 2016, she returned to Bom Dia & Cia and, in 2020, began to command the digital music channel Trilha de Sexta, on Record TV.

13. Kadu Moliterno

Kadu Moliterno even made some successful soap operas such as Bang Bang, Paraíso and Malhação, then took a short break and changed broadcasters, until he started to be a supporting actor in soap operas on Record TV: A Terra Prometida and Topíssima. The actor was successful in the series Armação Ilimitada, in the 1980s, including, he and André de Biase said in an interview that they had the idea for the series due to the opportunity to surf in Hawaii and Polynesia.

14. Letícia Sabatella

Letícia Sabatella was very successful in soap operas such as: O Clone, Caminho das Índias and Tempo de Amar in which, although she played supporting roles, she gave a show of interpretation. In the meantime, she was not without work, but only in 2021 did Letícia shine in the role of a protagonist. She played Empress Teresa Cristina, wife of Dom Pedro II, in the telenovela Nos Tempos do Imperador. The artist is also a singer and recorded the song “A Cigarra”, with Elza Soares.
