11 Products that were successful years ago, but are still present in the memory of many Brazilians

Long before touchscreen devices came along and Tik Tok was a phenomenon among kids and teens, several other iconic products marked our childhood in a special way. It turns out that many of these articles were extinct or replaced by a new outfit, leaving us homesick and even a little sad, knowing that this new generation of teenagers will not be able to have access to the products we loved most during our childhood.

How can we forget the time when we ate chocolate in the form of coins? Or when we ran away to go to the bank to buy figurines? Good times!

And we, from awesome.clubwe have gathered 12 products that marked our childhood and adolescence to remember this charming time, which young people today should not know.

1. Cell Phones with Flip

There are still phones with flip phones, but nowadays, most people prefer touch screen devices. But just because they are no longer successful nowadays, it doesn’t mean that this model hasn’t been engraved in the memory (and hearts) of users who had or dreamed of having the cell phone of the moment, marking a generation.

In Brazil, in the 2000s, one of the great representatives of this style was the Nokia 6125, but since then it has stopped being produced and many young people today do not even know of its existence.
However, there are other similar models that, despite having gone out of fashion, still circulate in the used handset market, such as the Motorola RAZR V3.

2. Chocolate Coins

3. Stationery Paper

Anyone remember collecting stationery? In the 80s/90s, this was a common practice for many children and teenagers. Although paper was developed for writing letters, many of us didn’t know exactly what to do with them. Even so, at the time, the fever was to exchange these cute papers, some even fragrant, among colleagues and friends and collect them.

4. Photographic Film

The emergence of photographic rolls marked a new era for the photography market, considered somewhat Jurassic until then. After the photo rolls appeared, it was one click after another. To develop, you sent the entire film to a store, who returned the prints.

Today, many of us remember moments through these impressions, which are usually kept in a photo album. Analog cameras are still available, as are films. However, the feeling that we, our grandparents and parents had when the photos were developed is still indescribable.

5. Kolynos Toothpaste

Perhaps in the entire history of Brazil there is no toothpaste that creates as much nostalgia as Kolynos. In addition to the green and yellow packaging, two of the most significant colors of the national flag, the commercials were extremely innovative and funny for the time. The brand was top seller in the country.

In 1997, due to a business issue, the Kolynos brand was replaced by Sorriso, which even kept the same visual identity as its predecessor.

6. Colorama Shampoo

7. Ping Pong gum

They were the first chewing gums sold in Brazil, which are greatly missed because, unfortunately, they disappeared from the market. In addition to being very tasty, in mint and tutti-frutti flavors, they still came with collectible figurines and only cost 10 cents (or even less).

8. Vinolia Perfumes

It is certainly part of the history of Brazilian perfumery and, possibly, one of the first perfumes that women bought for the first time in their lives. One thing that many do not forget is the perfume and its delicious fragrances.

The Vinolia brand had its origins in a French-British company called Blondeau et Cie. It was later adopted for the company’s line of personal care products, including soap, cream and powder advertised as suitable for people with sensitive skin. At the end of the 19th century, the Vinolia line included eau de cologne, hair gloss, toothpaste, shaving sticks and lip cream. In 1920 came the turn of perfumes, including fragrances such as Rosa Inglesa and Violetas Russas, Aralys, Osiris and Sourire d’eté, contained in cut glass bottles.

9. Mirinda

This soda made a lot of people’s childhood sweeter 😜. Despite having several flavors, the Mirinda orange flavor accompanied many children at birthday parties or when it was time to gather classmates to do their homework. In Brazil, Mirinda orange flavor was marketed between 1996 and 1998, being gradually withdrawn from the market and replaced by other brands.

10. Surprise Chocolate

11. Kichute

The Kichute was a kind of boot that everyone wanted. Since his shoelace was huge, it made everyone tie it around his ankle. If you know someone who did this, you will surely hear good stories.

It was used both for everyday use and for playing football, even more so after Brazil won the 1970 World Cup. It is important to note that the Kichute brand was discontinued by the manufacturer in mid-2002, with no forecast of production resumption.

Which of these products would you give anything to get them manufactured again? Do you miss another article that we didn’t mention here? Let us know in the comments, because we’d love to hear about your best childhood memories.
