10 Signs Your Body Needs to Detoxify

While our bodies have the ability to self-cleanse from time to time, it also gives us signals that it needs extra help. Our immune system, kidneys and liver work simultaneously to eliminate toxins from the body as they enter it.

However, when these negative substances exceed the body’s ability to eliminate them, they accumulate within us for long periods, until we decide to take special measures to eliminate them completely.

At the awesome.club we did research on the origin of toxins and the signals our body gives us to indicate that we should detoxify.

What do we know about toxins?

As we all know, a toxin is a foreign substance that enters our body. If the immune system doesn’t eliminate it, it can stay there for years, showing no signs of being there. It is only when its levels increase to the point where the body cannot keep up with it that symptoms indicating that it will be necessary to detoxify begin to appear.

Where the toxins come from:

Environmental toxins: they usually come from more urban locations, where there are automobiles, water and air pollution, radiation, pesticides and herbicides; or in cleansers, hairsprays, perfumes, and makeup that you might have around the house.
Lifestyle toxins: they usually come from the chemicals we ingest, such as sugar, medications, processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco.
Metabolic reactions: when our bodies start breaking down proteins, sugars and fats, toxic waste naturally occurs. When a diet does not provide enough nutrients, it causes toxins to build up in the body.
Gut microbes: The gastrointestinal tract is full of yeasts that help in the digestion of food. When there is an overgrowth of bacteria in this area of the body, toxins enter the bloodstream and produce various diseases.
Emotional toxins: Stress, fear, or traumatic events can affect the nervous and hormonal systems, which leads to the body’s inability to detoxify.

1. Weight gain

Have you noticed uncontrolled weight gain, even counting the calories you consume and exercising disciplinedly? Perhaps a toxic overload is responsible for this. Many toxins are lipophilic, which indicates that they are stored in body fat. They contain pesticides and dioxins that cause the body to produce more fat cells to store more toxins. This will make it nearly impossible to lose weight until you detoxify your system.

2. Constant fatigue

Are you sleeping more than usual, and still feeling exhausted all the time? A toxic overload could be the reason behind this. When the body accumulates a lot of toxins, it creates a lot of pressure on the adrenal glands. A long-term toxic load can cause adrenal fatigue, which makes you feel exhausted and sleepy. Additionally, some toxins, such as caffeine, can negatively alter the functions of these glands, forcing the body to remain alert while trying to eliminate harmful substances.

3. Insomnia

If you feel like your body is constantly alert and stressed, it is possible that you have an imbalance in your cortisol levels. This is a hormone the body releases to relieve stress. Its measurements in healthy individuals are high in the morning and progressively decrease throughout the day.

When there is a hormonal imbalance, cortisol levels at night intensify. This means you feel more energetic and active in the afternoon than in the morning. Insomnia, in the long term, causes serious health problems such as heart disease, so it’s important to detox if you think the cause of what you’re feeling is a cortisol imbalance.

4. Deterioration of thought

Toxins can directly affect the brain. This includes monosodium glutamate and/or aspartame. If you have trouble concentrating constantly during the day for no specific reason, the cause could be a high degree of poisoning. Both aspartame and monosodium glutamate have the ability to kill brain cells and prevent brain oxidation. The second product is found in highly processed foods and meats, while the first is found in sugar-free drinks, chewing gum and toothpaste. It is important to eliminate these excitotoxins from your diet.

5. Unexplained headaches

If you are constantly suffering from headaches for no apparent reason, this could be a sign that your toxicity levels are higher than normal. Toxins that can affect the brain, such as aspartame and monosodium glutamate, can also cause persistent migraines after entering the body through food intake. However, there are additional harmful substances that can trigger headaches, such as food coloring, preservatives and heavy metals.

6. Sudden mood swings

If throughout the day you are suddenly showing mood swings, this could be a sign that there is a hormonal imbalance in your body. Toxins like xenoestrogens cause hormonal variations that affect both sexes. These harmful substances are a synthetic mixture of hormones that act like estrogens in the body. Xenoestrogens are commonly found in industrial compounds such as phthalates, bisphenol A and polychlorinated biphenyl. Avoid using plastic utensils, especially in the kitchen — this can help reduce toxin levels in your system.

7. Very unpleasant body odor

If you constantly experience bad breath, stool, and smelly gas, this could be a sign that your liver and colon are struggling to eliminate a highly toxic load. If you feel bloated for a long time, don’t feel hungry, and bad body odor persists, then it’s important to help your body eliminate toxins. You can do a treatment with milk thistle, olive oil and lemon juice to thoroughly cleanse and detoxify the body effectively.

8. Constipation

The bowel movement is vital to eliminate what is discarded by our bodies on a daily basis. It could be that the reason this doesn’t happen every day is the lack of antioxidants in your diet. This causes toxins to be absorbed into the bloodstream and begin to build up. Drinking plenty of water and eating a diet rich in antioxidants and fiber can help you get rid of constipation, bloating and prevent the level of toxins in the body from rising too high.

9. Muscle aches

If you suffer from frequent unexplained muscle pain, it could be a sign of a highly toxic load in your body. Toxins have the ability to stimulate pain receptors located in the muscles, which leads to muscle spasms, cramps or “knots” in the back.

Harmful substances have an immediate effect on muscles because they usually come from foods that were consumed on the same day. If you experience muscle cramps for no reason, it is recommended that you keep a daily log of when it happened and what you ate during the day to identify what foods could be causing it.

10. Skin reactions

The liver is responsible for removing most toxins from the body. When the body is overloaded with harmful substances, this organ does not function normally and other systems try to eliminate these toxins through the skin, for example. When this happens, she reacts badly to the process, because she perceives these substances as something toxic or poisonous. This causes problems such as acne, rashes, eczema or dermatitis, dermatitis and boils.

If you feel that your body has a lot of accumulated toxins and you have been experiencing some of the above mentioned situations, it is very important to start following a detox diet to flush out the harmful substances from your body. A diet based on healthy organic foods, with plenty of antioxidant-rich vegetables and fruits, can help improve your body’s overall well-being. Remember to stay hydrated and exercise every day. And always consult a doctor before taking any action.
