10 Makeshift Feeders Around the World for Stray Dogs Prove That Goodness Still Exists

In several countries, the number of dogs living on the streets increases every day, which is becoming a major problem. Many governments try to resolve this situation through humanitarian programs. On the other hand, animal lovers have taken initiatives around the world in order to help their 4-legged friends in any way they can.

O awesome.club gathered, in different countries, 10 examples of people who decided to give a helping hand to dogs that don’t have a home.

Brazilian Wancleia Soares was one of the first people to come up with an incredible idea. Realizing that the stray dogs in her area needed to eat, she decided to install a makeshift feeder in front of her restaurant, with the help of other people for this. Wancleia also used Facebook to publicize the initiative and mobilize friends: “Let’s unite to help our street kittens and puppies”.

In Bolivia, students from the Universidad Mayor de San Simón (UMSS) installed two feeders to commemorate the International Street Dog Day. The need to feed the dogs that roamed the university was urgent. Therefore, the academic authorities decided to support the noble cause.

Employees at a police station in Monsefú, Peru, joined the idea of ​​feeding dogs without a home. They joined forces to install, in front of the police station, feeders and drinkers. Not to mention that the official page of the Peruvian police not only congratulated the employees, but the institution sponsored the installation of other feeders across the country.

In Pristina, Kosovo, another human gesture in solidarity with stray dogs. The organization United for Animals, in charge of caring for the well-being of homeless animals across the country, posted on its official profile an improvised feeder installed by different local traders as a gesture of solidarity.

In the neighborhood of San Jerónimo, in Paraguay, the organization called Huellitas Felices PY took charge of the humble initiative to help stray dogs. And Federico Arias was responsible for sharing in twitter the idea put into practice.

In Colombia, for some time now, the Comedog project has become famous not only in that country, where there are already more than 450 of these devices, but also in other countries of the American continent. Comedog aims both to feed as many strays as possible, as well as to find them a home and provide veterinary care.

The “Feed a mutt” campaign was created by the organization Ajudar x Ajudar — United Rescuers with the idea of ​​providing improvised feeders and drinkers for stray animals in the region of Matamoros, Mexico. Students and neighbors in the area also joined the project, raising money to feed the animals.

At the San José Catholic Education Complex in Quezaltepeque, El Salvador, students had community support to help stray dogs through makeshift feeders they made. It all started with a project for the school. But the initiative grew and became what it is today, one of the programs of the Organization Alegria em Ação — Food, love and water for strays.

Quito, the capital, appears to be the first city in the country to adopt the initiative in favor of stray dogs, after the idea was successful in Uruguay and Colombia. The Refúgio Amigos de Isabella Organization took the lead to ensure feeding as many animals as possible, installing feeders throughout the city.

For veterinarian Saint Germain, animal care is essential, and that involves food. In Argentina, as in the whole world, the rate of stray animals that do not receive adequate care is very high. Therefore, a veterinarian decided to take the initiative to install a feeder in front of the clinic for stray animals that live in the region.
