7 Tips to charge your cell phone battery as quickly as possible

Smartphones have made our lives much more efficient, but even with all the good they provide us, there is always some downside, and in this case, it’s the need to charge them. About 5.13 billion people will charge their phones today alone. What if there was a way to make your cell phone battery charge a little faster?

At the awesome.club We want to save you as much time as possible and we’ve found seven ways to charge your phone faster. Don’t forget to check out the bonus at the end of the article.

1. Don’t worry about wireless charging

Wireless or wireless charging is a relatively new method of charging the battery. While it may look interesting and futuristic, it’s actually not such an efficient method of charging. When using a wireless charger, it may take twice as long to fully charge your phone compared to conventional methods.

Simply put, the power usually goes straight to the phone when using a cable, but with the wireless charger a lot of that power is lost as heat. Therefore, it is much more economical and faster to charge your cell phone using a cable.

2. Invest in a fast charger

74% — Fast charging (41 minutes to complete)

Fast charging works up to a certain percentage. Then the speed drops to a normal charging rate. A standard USB 2.0 has a power output of 2.5W, while on newer and faster chargers, power outputs range from 18W to 100W.

3. Activate power saving mode

As humans, our hearts beat without us having to think about it. Our cell phones are almost like that as they perform all the functions in the background while we use them. Therefore, the power saving mode can reduce charging time by a few minutes.

Different phones have different power saving settings. However, the gist is this: power saving mode will decrease activities like screen brightness, CPU function and data usage, so more energy can be spent to charge your mobile.

4. Manage your apps and downloads

Some apps can run in the background without you knowing. That doesn’t mean you have to force close all of them in the multitasking menu. Forcing these apps to close can actually use more power. Instead, go to battery settings, where you can find a list of apps that are using the most battery and close or restrict them.

It is also prudent to check if any apps are downloading updates, which can also drain your battery. Managing app activity will help your phone to charge faster as unnecessary updates and certain operations will no longer consume battery.

5. Clean the charger input port

Have you ever thought about looking at the charger’s input port? Over time, dust, lint and dirt can accumulate in the area and prevent charging from going as fast as it should. This is because dust, lint and dirt are non-conductive, so less power is directed from the cable to the phone’s battery.

6. Don’t let your phone get too hot

Your cell phone has a built-in thermal control system, which regulates the temperature of the device. It also acts as a protection to prevent overheating. For example, if you leave your phone in the sun or keep the case on while charging, your phone will work harder to turn down the heat and consequently charge slower.

To keep your phone cool, you can do several things. This includes keeping it out of direct sunlight, turning it off while charging, charging it in a cold place, or placing it near a fan.

7. Buy a new battery

The chemistry of a lithium battery degrades over time. So if your phone is still charging slowly after following all the tips on this list, it might be time for an upgrade. On some cell phones, it is possible to check the condition of the battery. Otherwise, you can download apps to test their ability and state.

In some cases, it is possible to simply replace the battery and keep the phone. However, most modern smartphones do not have removable batteries, so slow charging is often a sign that the phone’s lifespan has come to an end.

Bonus: A new technology can fully charge a smartphone in just 30 seconds

While not yet available to the public, the technology used by StoreDot creates some interesting prospects for the future related to fast charging and lower power consumption.
