10 ‘Harry Potter’ Costume Details That Many Fans Didn’t Notice

The Harry Potter saga has become one of the most successful cinematic events in history. The world created by the writer JK Rowling was brought to the screen thanks to the work of dozens of people, who did their best to respect as much as possible the ideas present in the books, especially with regard to the costumes, a key piece to highlight the personality of the characters and give the magic touch to this world that so enchants adults and children.

O awesome.club gathered some interesting stories behind the iconic costumes from the Harry Potter saga. See how the clothes hide symbols and also check out the changes that the actors themselves made to their costumes to give their characters an even more unique touch.

1. The Harry Potter Contact Lens

According to the books, Harry’s eyes are green, just like his mother’s. At the beginning of the recordings, the production team asked Daniel Radcliffe to wear contact lenses of this color, as his eyes are blue, but the idea was discarded because they hurt him. That’s why the script underwent a slight change and the character started to have blue eyes.

2. Farewell to uniforms

3. Bellatrix’s outfit became very popular

The costume design made by Temime for the character Bellatrix Lestrange ensured that she would become one of the favorites of the saga. However, she was also the one that caused the most problems, mainly because she needed to look “rotten”. However, the great professionalism of actress Helena Bonham Carter made everything simpler.

Bellatrix was so successful among fans of the saga that at an event they asked Temime to create a clothing line inspired by this dark character.

4. Hermione’s delicate dress

In the fourth film of the saga, one of the most iconic scenes is the Christmas ball. In it, we can see a different side of the protagonists. Hermione’s dress, described by Temime herself as a “doll”, just wanted to demonstrate that, although the character has a rougher side, she can also be very delicate.

5. Luna’s peculiar earrings

When Evanna Lynch was accepted to play the role of Luna Lovegood, she was already in love with the Harry Potter saga. To represent the eccentric girl from House Ravenclaw, Evanna helped Temime design the outfit worn by her character. The earrings, for example, were created by the actress herself.

6. Ginny Weasley and her fascination with fashion

7. Dolores Umbridge and the color pink

One of the most hated characters in the saga is Dolores Umbridge. The antagonist stands out for not wearing dark colors or worn clothes. On the contrary, she only wears clothes in shades of pink and feels a great love for cats, something that appears in her scarf. Temime revealed that this was one of her favorite accessories, especially as it contrasted with Dolores Umbridge’s unpleasant personality.

8. Very Expensive Uniforms

Temime wanted the Hogwarts uniforms to be of the best quality possible, so she didn’t skimp on designing them. The ties, for example, were made of fine silk and, oddly enough, they became the most expensive part of the saga’s costumes.

9. The Battle of Hogwarts required a lot of costume changes

In the last film of the saga, we witness the entire school fighting against the followers of Lord Voldemort. For designers and stylists, this scene was complete chaos, precisely because it was necessary to show the wear and tear of clothes as the battle progressed. In other words, there were between ten and 15 costumes a day, during four months of recording, just for that scene.

10. Voldemort’s outfit and his connection to the “horcruxes”

Of all these outfits, which one would you love to have and wear with no problems on a daily basis? Tell in the comments!
