Sarah Paulson, who plays the young character, has brown eyes, while the actress, Kate Burton, has green eyes and plays Ellis at an older age.

A more attentive continuity would solve most of the problems of Grey’s Anatomy, in this scene where Derek is talking to Addison the curtain behind him changes all the time. It’s just time for the camera to focus elsewhere and when it comes back, the fabric has already changed position.
