Many animated characters wouldn’t have the same charm if it weren’t for a strong voice full of personality. That’s why it’s so important to choose the perfect voice actor for each role. Of course, acting counts for a lot when casting, but does physical appearance count as well?
Today the awesome.club gathered photos of Brazilian artists that look a lot like the characters they dubbed in the theaters. Some similarities are striking. Check out!
1. Thiago Lacerda
Well defined jaw, light eyes and the forelock with gray streaks. Are you going to say that Thiago Lacerda doesn’t remind much of Metroman? The actor voiced the hero of the animation Megamente, which aired in 2010. Anyone who thinks that this was his debut as a voice actor is wrong. In 2003, the heartthrob had already lent his voice to the protagonist of Sinbad: The Legend of the Seven Seas.
2. Larissa Manoela
Blonde and with cornrows, Larissa Manoela looked even more like Gerda — the main character of O Reino Gelado. The actress is a great voice actress (or rather, full voice) and has given life to several characters in films such as Encantado and O Pequeno Príncipe. On her Instagram, the artist showed that she is very proud and pleased to be part of this class. “It’s a big challenge,” she said.
3. Any Gabrielly
Any Gabrielly seems to have been handpicked to voice Moana. Are they not very similar? The hair, nose and mouth are just a few of the many similarities. The artist, who started singing at age 6, remembers this work with great affection and talks about the importance of representativeness. “Her physical appearance represents a lot more girls than other princesses. She will inspire a lot of girls out there, she meant a lot to me,” she revealed.
4. Fiorella Mattheis
Yes, we hand-picked a photo of Fiorella Mattheis in a headband and pink lipstick so you can see how much she looks like Honey Lemon — the superheroine from the animation Big Hero. Even the nose is similar! Did the producers of the feature think about this when choosing the actress to do the dubbing?
5. Robson Nunes
Continuing in the long Big Hero Operation, we also noticed a great similarity between Robson Nunes and Wasabi. Including, the actor even manages to reproduce the same “killer” look of the character.
6. Du Moscovis
Are you going to say that there would be another Brazilian actor more similar to Tarzan than Du Moscovis? The “rustic” beauty of the character reminded us a lot of the phase in which he played Fernando, one of the protagonists of the telenovela Por Amor. At the time, the artist revealed that he used his normal timbre when auditioning to voice the King of the Jungles.
7. Rodrigo Santoro
Thin nose, brown eyes, square jaw… and in this photo, even the green shirt looks alike! Rodrigo Santoro made waves dubbing the character Túlio, from the animation Rio 2. And it wasn’t just in the Brazilian version. The artist was also part of the original production, alongside major international celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg and Jamie Foxx.
8. Samara Felippo
Did you realize that the voice of Colette, from the animation Ratatouille, was Samara Felippo? Including, it must have been a real challenge in the actress’s career, since the film marked her debut as a voice actress. Despite having revealed that it was a tiring job and that it required a lot of concentration, the actress said that it was a very pleasant experience.
9. Isabelle Drummond
If the producers of Rise of the Guardians decide to make a live-action version of the feature, we already know who they can call: Isabelle Drummond. If in doubt, imagine the actress with the headdress and pink contact lenses. Okay, it’s already just like the Tooth Fairy. Including, this was the first character she dubbed in theaters. “It was a totally new thing, but I really enjoyed the experience. I had a great time,” she stated.
10. Sidney Magal
Do you remember the “carioca pilot” from the movie Fun? Who gave the voice to the gallant character that appears in Riley’s mother’s thoughts was Sidney Magal. As the artist exudes charm and charisma, we think it was the perfect combination! He even revealed that he has similarities with the pilot: “I think I’m a nice person and I’m from Rio de Janeiro.”
Bonus: Chico Anysio
The late Chico Anysio joined our bonus, as we couldn’t talk about voice actors who sound like their characters without mentioning his participation in Up: Altas Aventuras. The comedian lent his voice to beloved Carl Fredricksen. We believe that the choice could not have been more accurate!
Which of the voice actors above is most like the character? Did you remember any other artists that are not on our list? tell the awesome.club in the comments.
