10 Bathroom Items That Can, Without You Realizing It, Drive Guests Away From Your Home

Just like the kitchen, the bathroom is the calling card of a house. Although we don’t spend as much time in it as we do in other rooms, a cozy and functional bathroom can set the mood for the whole day. After all, many people start their day with a shower and one of the last things we do before bed is brush our teeth.

We, from incredible.club, we appreciate the convenience and comfort of home. Therefore, we have prepared a post on how we can modify some bathroom elements to make it even more welcoming and pleasant, both for guests and for the residents themselves. Follow!

1. Low quality soap dispenser

Perhaps the soap dish is one of the first things we see when approaching the bathroom sink. As it is used on a daily basis, it is constantly exposed to soapy water and, therefore, it is important to choose a quality material. We do not advise opting for plastic, as it is not natural and scratches can easily appear. Glass and wood look elegant, but wood is not durable, and glass gets dirty quickly. We therefore suggest metal or ceramic.

2. PVC mat

Such rugs are generally very cheap and are sold in large rolls, which would allow us to cut them to the desired size and shape; the color palette is also vast. However, PVC does not absorb water very well, its useful life is short and the visual impression it leaves corresponds to its value. A better solution would be to buy a cotton rug (the base is rubber and absorbs more water on the outside) or one made of bamboo. Cotton rugs have an elegant look and are usually available in pastel shades that aren’t too flashy. Bamboo ones, on the other hand, in addition to absorbing and evaporating water well, are also resistant to wear and tear.

3. Lack of support for toilet paper

Perhaps, this problem is recurring for many. Sometimes because of laziness to put the paper on the support, sometimes because of living with many people in the same house and each one put the paper where it suits them best. But leaving it on top of the toilet is certainly not the most appropriate option. And it is worth noting that there are several types of support: plastic, metal, wood, with or without covers, attached to the wall. In the appropriate supports, the paper will not get dirty, dusty, wet and, furthermore, it will not run the risk of falling to the floor.

4. Dirty shower curtain

Old and dirty shower curtains not only do not contribute to the comfort of the environment, but can also leave a bad impression on guests. Therefore, we must remember to wash them regularly. The process is not at all complicated: for washing plastic curtains, experts suggest mixing some cleaning product, baking soda, a few drops of tea tree oil and turning the washing machine on the “delicate” mode.

Another tip: when choosing a new curtain, we cannot forget that one of the main functions of this element is impermeability. Therefore, we suggest opting for materials that have weights on the bottom edge to prevent them from bending and spilling water on the floor.

5. Pots and tubes next to the faucet

It can be difficult to find an appropriate place to store the various tubes of creams and hair products. However, even when we do, after a while, they again go back to the edge of the sink. Because? Because it’s convenient. But it’s not very elegant, is it? Even the most expensive scrub from a famous brand will lose some of its appeal if it’s thrown in among other hygienic products. Try to allocate a shelf for each type of product, and those that are rarely used can be stored in the closet.

6. Absence of panel for bathtubs

It is very practical to have a bathtub panel, especially in small spaces. It can be used as a cupboard to store, for example, cleaning products. Also, it covers one of the least aesthetic areas of the bathroom, the underside of the bathtub. Many modern options contain sliding systems, which facilitate access to stored materials. The variety of models allows you to choose the element that best matches the colors and style of your bathroom.

7. Corner of the wall

The junction of the wall and the bathtub is a problematic place, and it is in plain sight. Many people are used to installing plastic guards to prevent moisture and dirt from accumulating around the edges. These are generally quite affordable options. However, this is only an effective solution for a short time, after which the materials turn yellow, peel and begin to come apart. Water also begins to enter the crevices, which can lead to more serious problems: fungus and a very unpleasant smell. Alternatively, you can use a wall sealer or ceramic edging (marble or granite options are also available).

8. Very flashy tiles

When choosing tiles for the bathroom wall, it is very easy to get carried away by the colorful patterns, especially given the huge range of colors on the market: from multicolored designs made in marble to hot pink mosaics. Polychromatic decorations can easily clash with other elements in the bathroom, not to mention that the presence of vibrant colors in small spaces can irritate the eyes. An expert’s tip is: choose tiles that imitate natural materials, such as wood or stone.

9. Clothesline for hanging clothes

Keeping a clothesline with clothes hanging for almost the entire bathroom is a dubious choice for decorating this space. It is also worth mentioning that this is usually the most humid room in the house, which means that clothes take longer to dry. If you don’t have a balcony or an area that can be used to dry clothes in your home, opt for machines with a drying function, separate dryers or a folding clothesline. The good side of the latter is that, today, there are many portable models of different sizes and materials. Our suggestion is to give preference to wooden ones, which are more sophisticated.

10. Shiny floor to floor

A glossy tile on the bathroom floor may not be the most suitable choice. First, it can get dirty or crack more easily. But the most problematic point, however, is that it is slippery. Therefore, in addition to all these reasons, such floors not only do not add to the aesthetic factor, but can also be dangerous. True, the effect of glossy floors can really increase the space. However, interior designers suggest opting for matte materials that are not slippery and look stylish.
