1 teaspoon of cinnamon a day helps prevent diabetes –

As if the special flavor were not enough, cinnamon accelerates metabolism and helps with weight loss. Now it has been proven that it also slows down the release of insulin by the pancreas, which reduces the risk of diabetes, according to a study carried out in India (a country where the spice is widely used in cooking) and published in the journal Lipids in Health and Disease. A daily intake of 3 grams (the equivalent of a coffee spoon) still helps to control blood glucose and cholesterol rates.

“Adequate diet is still the best medicine, but cinnamon can help to obtain positive results”, comments endocrinologist and nutrologist Leonardo Motta, from Rio de Janeiro. To take advantage of the benefits of spice, sprinkle the powdered version in coffees and yogurts or be inspired by the Indians and use cinnamon (powder and stick) in the preparation of sweet and sour dishes.
