Zodiac constellation – Aries (03/21 to 04/20)

The king of Thebes, Atamas, married Nephele and had two children from this first marriage: Phrixus and Helle. Bored, he later decides to marry again, this time with Ino and with Learco and Melicertes as his new heirs.

The second wife becomes jealous of the children from the first marriage and afraid that her own will not inherit the kingdom.

So, he decides to finish them off, asking them to damage the wheat grains. Thus, a great famine spread throughout the region.

King Átamas is devastated and goes to consult the Oracle of Delphi to end the tragedy. But his second wife, Machiavellian, anticipates and convinces the messengers to say that a sacrifice of her first two sons would be necessary.

When this is about to happen, Nephele sends her children in danger a flying ram with golden fleece, so that they can flee from Europe to Asia. Hele is unable to hold on tightly to the ram and falls into the sea in the Hellespont – today the Dardanelles Strait, in Turkey.

Phrixus continues his journey and upon arriving in Colchis, King Aeetes receives him so well that he gives him his daughter Chalciope in marriage. In reverence, Phrixus sacrifices the ram and gives the golden wool to his father-in-law, who fixes the item in an oak tree in the sacred field of Mars, under the protection of a fierce dragon and bulls that breathe fire from their bellies.

In another realm…

Parallel to this, in another kingdom, Éson loses his throne to his own brother, Pelias.

When consulting the Oracle, Éson learns that Pelias would be dethroned by his son in the future. Afraid of his brother’s persecution, as soon as Jason (his son) is born, Éson invents an illness and subsequent death and sends the baby away.

At the age of 20, Jason consults the Oracle, who asks him to wear a dazzling leopard skin and go to Iolco to claim the throne that his uncle took away – and that is what he did.

Soon, Pelias receives him and pretends to be willing to hand over the throne. As long as he goes to Colchis and brings back the ram’s precious golden fleece.

Willing to succeed, Jason heads to Colchis with the 50 best heroes (including Hercules) he can find.

Then, King Eetes receives him and conditions him to deliver the precious item if Jason subdues two flame-breathing bulls and attaches them to a diamond plow, plowing the field of Mars, sowing the teeth of a dragon. From this work, men with weapons would be born, whom he would have to defeat.

The second test would be to face the monster that guarded the precious golden fleece. Juno and Minerva make Medea, daughter of Aeetes, fall in love with Jason and she, with her enchantment skills, numbs the monster. Obviously, after our hero masterfully completes the first task.

So he slays the monster, takes the golden fleece, and flees with his heroes and Medea to Iolcus.

There he gives the fleece to his unbelieving uncle, and takes the kingdom that is rightfully his.

For this incredible feat, the gods take the golden fleece ram to the heavens and it becomes a constellation of the Zodiac, creating the Constellation of Aries!

Zodiac constellation – Taurus (04/21 to 05/20)

Those born under the sign of Taurus have strong characteristics of rationality, stubbornness and the search for stability. The story of the Taurus constellation in Greek Mythology is about persistence, but also bravery and love.

Europa was the daughter of Agenor (king of Phenicia) and Telefassa. She was so incredibly beautiful and white that one of the goddess Juno’s maids stole the deity’s makeup to use in Europe.

One day, the god Jupiter saw Europa playing at the seashore with her companions and was enchanted by her beauty, deciding to conquer her. She transformed into a white bull with horns that resembled the crescent moon.

Jupiter then lies at the girl’s feet, looking affectionate and sweet. The princess is scared, at the same time she is enchanted by the animal, decorating it with flower garlands and sitting on its back.

The god then seizes the opportunity and in the blink of an eye he gets up and starts running towards the sea, to Europa’s screams of despair. After that, they arrive on the island of Crete, where in his original form as the god Jupiter marries Europa and has three children with her.

After her death, Europa is considered a deity by the people of Crete and the bull that seduced her is taken to the heavens in honor, to become one of the constellations of the zodiac, the Taurus Constellation.

Zodiac constellation – Gemini (05/21 to 06/20)

Marked by strong communication and sociability, in addition to being easy to talk to, Geminis are the third in the sequence of zodiac signs. As expected, the story of the Gemini constellation in Greek Mythology is beautiful and fraternal.

The god Jupiter courted Leda (wife of the king of Lacedaemon, Tyndareus), who wanted nothing to do with him. To escape his pursuit, Leda turned into a goose. But Jupiter noticed and began to transform into a swan.

On the same day that she is possessed by the god, she spends the night with her husband and out of this mess (lol), after nine months, Leda lays two eggs: one containing Pollux and Helen (children of Jupiter, immortal) and the other with Castor and Clytemnestra (sons of King Tyndareus, mortals).

The two brothers Pollux and Castor create a very strong bond of fraternal friendship, participating in battles together, joining Jason on the mission to Colchis (remember, in the story of the constellation Aries?) and saving their sister, Helena, from the clutches of Theseus when they return to their homeland.

Once, they receive an invitation to the wedding of Idas and Linceu with Febe and Hilera, and very excitedly they decide to kidnap the brides, creating an intense battle that leads Castor and Linceu to their death.

Without accepting his brother’s death, Pollux asks Jupiter to make him immortal. Unable to completely fulfill his son’s request, he shares immortality between the two brothers.

Therefore, each of them lived and died alternately and spent a day in the company of the gods.

Later it takes them to the sky, forming another constellation of the zodiac, the Constellation of Gemini.

Zodiac constellation – Cancer (06/21 to 07/21)

Greek mythology tells that the goddess Juno created the hydra of Lerna to destroy Hercules. This was an immense monster, a serpent with countless heads (depending on the story, from five to a hundred!) that killed everything in sight with its deadly breath.

In one of his 12 labors, Hercules and his nephew Iolaus succeed in putting an end to the beast.

Hercules’ first work was in Nemea, where there lived a hyper-ferocious lion created by the goddess Juno (remember her?) with other equally dangerous monsters to destroy it. He lived deep in a forest and went out to cause chaos in the city of Argólida, devouring the residents and livestock.

Many hunters and warriors tried to kill it in vain, as their spears and arrows did not harm the animal, whose skin is immune and inviolable. Then Eristaeus summons Hercules to kill the lion and put an end to those tragedies.
Hercules is also unsuccessful with his arrows, but he has the idea of ​​cornering the lion and hitting him with his big club – which disorientates him, allowing the hero to reach him and suffocate him, causing his death.
The lion is then taken to the sky by the god Jupiter, transforming it into the constellation Leo.

Zodiac constellation – Virgo (08/23 to 09/22)
