Young man shows what it’s like to eat at one of the best restaurants in the world for $600

What kind of food and in what quantity do you think is served in the best restaurants in the world? This was the question asked by the protagonist of our post, an Australian student. Upon arriving in San Francisco, USA, the young woman spent 600 dollars in one of the most expensive restaurants in California, sharing her impressions with users of the Imgur site, complementing her analysis with several photos.

O awesome.club wants you to embark on a gastronomic journey together. Of course, photos are no substitute for personal experience, but suddenly you are inspired to prepare something special for dinner tonight.

This is the young woman, who on Imgur is known as Hoptail. “Some people think I’m rich, but I really just like good food, so I save to have access to it,” she commented in the post.

And this is the restaurant, Saison. In 2014, it received 3 stars, the highest rating in the Michelin Guide, the world’s highest reference on the subject. Three stars “indicate exceptional cuisine that justifies the trip on its own.”

This is the top view. Take a look at the wood fires: they reflect the restaurant’s concept: most dishes are prepared over an open fire or in wood-fired ovens.

The chef buys the products directly from the local fishermen, farmers and ranchers, avoiding imported foods.

Next came a dish of spinach, seaweed and caviar. Spinach leaves are plucked in the early stages of growth, retaining a mild flavor. The seaweed is fried in purified butter made from the milk of a cow named Bella, who lives on the restaurant’s farm. The caviar is sturgeon, salted following a recipe that uses smoked salt. “Although the textures and flavors were different from each other, they unexpectedly combined and formed a harmonious whole”, opined the young woman.

This is sea bass sashimi. The thin slices of the raw fish were so perfect that Hoptail cried. “I realized that I had reached the peak of flavor, and I thought I would never again taste raw fish as delicious as that one.” Fried pieces of fish covered with soy sauce and decorated with tomatoes were also served.

Now it’s time for the geoduck, a mollusk native to the region and delicious although its shape is somewhat strange, as shown in the photo above. Click on the image to see it in its natural form.

According to the netizen, the dish was not so delicious. The meat was juicy but the flavor of the sauce was too strong and the taste of the protein could not be enjoyed.

Then horseradish in butter was served, cut into thin slices. Underneath were cubes of marinated horseradish, horseradish leaves and horseradish gelatin. After the sea urchin, the horseradish flavor blended perfectly. The combination of each dish on the menu was well thought out by Saison’s chef.

The next course consisted of 3 types of roasted pumpkins. The first portion with octopus flakes and the second with buttermilk. Both were delicious, in Hoptail’s opinion. However, the third portion, a puréed pumpkin in pumpkin seed oil, was too salty and not so tasty.

Maybe you’re thinking it’s time for dessert. But not. It’s time for meat dishes. The first was medium rare antelope meat stuffed with Italian chicory and herb salad. Serve with bread rolls and butter with honey. According to the visitor, the antelope fillet resembles something between beef and lamb

After that, antelope bone broth with sage was served. Aromatic and tasty.

Finally, dessert. We started with a smoked ice cream. Obviously, the preparation technique is not revealed by the restaurant. The ice cream is served with salted caramel which, according to the Australian, divided her life into before and after.

Along with the smoked ice cream were sugared cocoa beans, peanuts, walnuts and pine nuts. Everything was really delicious, according to the netizen.

Sugary oranges set the tone smooth and creamy.

Then a blueberry cream with candied fruit and brandy (cognac). If you’re a fan of brandy, dessert is for you, as it contains a good amount of the drink.

After the 4-hour meal, the young woman gained beautiful memories. “It was an incredible experience, and worth every penny spent,” posted the student. In addition to the delicious food, Hoptail highlighted the atmosphere of the restaurant, the discreet service, spacious environment and pleasant aroma of the place. All this packed with hits from the 70s and 80s.
