What would the “ideal” human body of the future look like?

With the help of technology and evolution, humans have managed to overcome and survive extremely harsh conditions on Earth and there is nothing that can stop us. Will it be? It would be great to know that we are prepared to face any kind of situation, but there is one detail that can prevent this from happening: our bodies. Yes, apparently the human body still does not present the adequate evolution to face the adversities that the future reserves for us.

Thinking about it, the awesome.club decided to gather the best and most exclusive characteristics of animals to think about what the “ideal” version of the human body would look like. In the end, we show what this body would look like if we put all these characteristics together.

Cat ears that let us hear a pin drop miles away

In general, our ears are quite discreet and elegant, but compared to other animals, we do not have good hearing. Although the human ear is designed to collect sound and echo it to the inner ear, it can only hear a few sounds and a few frequencies, which means we can’t hear the same sounds that other animals can clearly hear.

Unlike humans, cats’ small, conical ears are specially designed to detect long-distance sounds and vibrations. A cat’s ears can also move in the direction of sound, because of 30 sets of flexible muscles that allow them to tilt 180 degrees towards sounds that we humans have a harder time hearing.

clam skin

Nowadays, weather and climate are unpredictable and often reach quite extreme temperatures and conditions. In this sense, the most practical thing would be to have a skin that could adapt to any type of change, that is, a skin similar to that of a mollusk, like a giant squid.

A giant squid’s skin can change color and camouflage itself according to its surroundings and at will. But when we stop to think, we realize that this happens to us too. People who live in regions with a warmer climate develop darker skin, unlike those who live in snowy areas, who tend to have paler skin. However, these changes take a long time to happen; that is, our skin would take a long time and a big change in lifestyle to adapt. We see, therefore, that in terms of adaptability, the skin of molluscs is much better than ours.

No more back pain; we will walk like gorillas

Apparently, feeling frequent back pain is something that only happens to humans, after all, having to stand up all the time to walk on two legs generates stress that ends up overloading the lower back.

The gorilla is one of our closest relatives and could have back problems if it walked like we do, but it doesn’t because it leans on its arms as it walks. That is, to maintain balance, the gorilla walks on all fours, which prevents the onset of pain as it ages. By the way, it is worth mentioning that there is an exercise for the back called ‘Gorilla Pose’.

Longer neck, like that of a swan

Asphyxiation is a danger that, as human beings, we cannot avoid, and it can happen for different reasons, including during feeding. That is, when food or some other object gets stuck in the throat, our airways are obstructed and oxygen cannot pass into the lungs.

Unlike humans, swans rarely choke, mainly because of their throat anatomy. What happens is that the thin neck of the swan has two passages, one for air and one for food, preventing any risk of suffocation.

Longer, dog-like nasal cavity to get rid of colds once and for all

Unlike humans, dogs and other animals with longer snouts rarely experience headaches because their nasal cavities are more pronounced. That is, the sinuses drain secretions much better and prevent animals from getting cold.

Being a “supermom” with a pouch like a kangaroo

According to some studies, babies are getting bigger and bigger, so they don’t always go through the mother’s canal. The result of this is the increase in the number of cesarean deliveries. But of course having a child involves many other difficulties. Taking care of the baby after surgery can be very tiring, which often prevents the mother from enjoying the baby in the first few weeks.

Unlike humans, kangaroos have another method of giving birth. Puppies are born in an earlier state than ours, after just 34 days of pregnancy. But they stay inside their mother’s pouches until they are fully developed, which takes an average of 6 months. This allows mothers to carry out different tasks as their paws are free.

See better with octopus eyes and eyesight

Although we are a highly evolved species, our eyesight leaves a lot to be desired, and eyeglasses and contact lenses are there to prove it. In addition, we have some blind spots, areas of the eyes where the images around us go unnoticed. It’s as if our eyes deceive us and don’t let us see some objects that are in front of us.

Octopuses and other cephalopods, on the other hand, have no blind spots and can see everything in front of them. Their eyes help them in dangerous situations, especially in the dark. I think it would be good if humans had four eyes like that, to avoid bigger problems, don’t you?

Run faster on ostrich legs

An animal that lives in a different way than we do because of its legs is the ostrich. Its sturdy legs and two big toes help it run faster, always with great strength and balance. In addition, the legs allow them to kick potential predators.

Decreased risk of heart attack due to a robust dog-like heart

You may have heard that the human heart is a very fragile organ, so fragile that people often say they have a broken heart. But the state of a heart is influenced by diet and the amount of exercise a person undertakes. A heart attack, for example, happens when a part of our heart loses blood because of a clogged artery.

Just like humans, dogs also suffer from heart attacks. However, the risk is much lower compared to ours because the coronary arteries are connected and not separated like the human heart. This means that if a dog has a heart attack because of a clogged artery, the other artery helps pump more blood the other way.

Breathing more deeply due to a larger chest, like that of birds

Apparently, our lungs aren’t the best for very challenging and tiring activities like mountain climbing and running marathons. It is actually a human fault due to the body-to-lung ratio and the lifestyle most people follow.

When it comes to breathing, birds have proven to be much more efficient than we are. Despite their small size, they have developed a unique pair of lungs, accompanied by air pockets that allow very agile movements and make breathing much easier.
