since the debut of Pride and Prejudice, the romantic hero of Jane Austen’s book became the platonic lover of many women. It was even voted as the prototype of the perfect date in a poll conducted a few years ago. But the story would have been very different if the characters didn’t have to respect the decorum of the time and speak fluently.
O awesome.club decided to imagine in illustrations what these characters would be like if they didn’t have the restrictions that the time imposed.
1. Mr. Darcy and the Bingley brothers arrive at the first dance in town and Darcy and Elizabeth meet for the first time.
2. Mr. Darcy helps Elizabeth into the carriage
3. Mr. Wickham lies to Elizabeth and makes her believe that Mr. Darcy betrayed him and ended up with him
4. Jane and Elizabeth prepare for a dance
5. Elizabeth dances with Mr. Darcy, but she thinks he’s a shallow man and doesn’t want to talk to him
6. Sentimental situation: complicated
7. Elizabeth’s cousin, the strange Mr. Collins, asks her to marry him.
8. Mr. Wickham realizes his mistake soon after marrying Elizabeth’s sister Lydia
9. Elizabeth admires Darcy’s sculpture when visiting her palace
10. Mr. Bingley declares his love for Jane in an unconventional way
11. Mr. Darcy confesses his love for Elizabeth at dawn
Bonus: In the book, Jane moves closer to Elizabeth and they spend a lot of time with Kitty, Mary and Darcy’s sister Georgiana.
