Experts define crying as a perfect signal: the sound is constant and loud enough to draw the attention of those around you. And crises manifest themselves every time something doesn’t go well. It is a powerful alarm, in addition to being an important way of interacting with the child. Anyone who has a baby at home, however, knows that it is not always easy to decipher the reason for the complaint and face the screaming. Then the question arises: what to do, after all, when crying?

deciphering the mystery

Babies can cry for a variety of reasons. And, as they are not born with a manual, interpreting what is happening is a challenge that requires tranquility, attention and a good dose of maternal intuition. Let’s go to the most common causes:

Hungry

In general, the crying is continuous. The child turns its head as if looking for something and does not calm down even with the mother’s affection. If you, mother, breastfed her, she was quiet and didn’t cry again, she was hungry. Even if the feeding time is still far away, the little one may want to feed. Just like adults, babies also experience appetite fluctuations.

expired diapers

This is perhaps the simplest item to check. If the diapers are dry and the baby is still crying, avoid changing the baby and causing even more stress. When changing diapers, be careful with cleaning and always use a protective cream to prevent diaper rash. Thus, you will be eliminating one more reason for crying.

Discomfort

The baby may be protesting the cold or the heat. Wet creases and red cheeks are often indicative of overdone winter clothing. Already cold hands and feet show that he needs more protection. And watch out for buttons, tags, bumps, and folds in clothing. These details can hurt the baby’s skin or provoke allergies. Also check that there are no sharp and rough toys in the crib or stroller that could disturb him.

emotional need

The reasons for crying are not always physical. After nine months surrounded and protected by the uterus, the baby may wonder at the “emptiness” of the outside world and feel helpless. Try snuggling your child close to your body, close to your chest.

Pain

It usually causes continuous crying, interspersed with small, higher-pitched screams. If all the hypotheses have already been ruled out and nothing seems to calm you down, it’s time to consult the pediatrician, especially if the little one has a fever.
