What do they think about women who wear glasses?

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been called unfriendly, just the opposite of me. I didn’t settle down and reflect until I found the reason.

One day, Victor, my friend, told me that he adopted my blasé attitude at parties. Hey? How blasé? I’m not that, I replied indignantly. He laughed and continued, “Now I squint just like you do and make this face like I’m thinking about something else and not paying attention to people.”

What? My world has fallen! Victor didn’t even suspect that I make “that face” and “squint my eyes” because I can’t see much beyond two meters in front of me. Victor wouldn’t understand what it feels like to have to squint your eyes to try to see something other than a landscape worthy of a blurry impressionist painting, half without contour and some colored stains.

There are people who use them because they need to, but there are also people who see glasses as an extension of their personal style. Go crazy on the look because you want to play and have fun with the different frames. And really, nowadays there is no shortage of options.

And by the way… These days I came across an article. “How to choose the right model of glasses for you”. Look, I don’t want to belittle the work of style consultants (far from it!), but it’s quite simple to choose the “right model” for you. Want to see?

Jokes aside, what I want to say is that I disagree with these style “rules” that say that a round face goes with rectangular or square glasses. Or that to wear rectangular frames you have to have an oval face. In practice, it all boils down to: am I feeling beautiful like this or not.

So I’m not going to give infallible tips. Only two. Eyeglasses go great with makeup! Lips with strong lipstick to match the frame (check out the picture of singer Jill Scott) or the classic cat eye liner that looks great with a more vintage frame. And tip number 2 is when using very striking and dark frames, you can put a little more into the concealer, as the frame can shade your dark circles. Okay, that’s all. The rest is up to you.
