What changes take place in your body if you stop eating bread

Since time immemorial, bread has been an integral part of human nutrition. Lately, no-carb diets have become a fad and cutting back on flour is an important step towards a healthy lifestyle. Thousands of bloggers often share their stories about what has changed in their lives since moving away from flour products. Their results are amazing: they improve the condition of the skin, they manage to lose weight, they are full of energy. But is everything they say true?

At the awesome.club we decided to clarify the situation and are willing to share our own data collection on the topic “What kind of bread is healthier?”. So… don’t miss this post and draw your own conclusions.

white bread vs. whole grain bread

We have nothing against wholemeal bread, nor against rye bread, oatmeal or wheat bran. These food products are definitely beneficial for the body. It is not surprising that someone can survive long enough on just rye bread and drinking clean water. But white bread is an entirely different story. In the 20th century, flour began to be produced industrially, which significantly worsened its quality. Therefore, we recommend that you avoid white bread made with refined flour. Then we explain why you should do it.

Reason 1: Useless food product

Reason 2: Lack of flavor

You must admit that white bread is tasteless. But that’s precisely why many people choose it: it doesn’t interfere with the taste of the food that goes with it, be it meat, soup, cheese or any other food. But that doesn’t improve them, as whole-grain bread might do.

Reason 3: toxicity

In the modern world, wheat is grown on a large scale. To increase its production and make it faster, it is sprayed with pesticides and, to keep it free from rodents and fungi, it is treated with different chemical compounds. But that is not all. To make flour whiter, manufacturers use the same substances for bleaching clothes as laundry: benzoyl peroxide, sodium and calcium pyrosulfates, and chlorine dioxide. You should always find out if the bread you buy is made from refined or organic flour. The refined goes through all the steps of the process described above.

Reason 4: skin rashes

We are what we eat. And if a person eats a lot of flour products, then it will certainly affect his skin. The rash is usually the result of the reaction to the gluten contained in the bread. Gluten is practically not excreted from the body and accumulates on the walls of the gastrointestinal tract, damaging its villi. Over time, it disrupts the nutrient absorption function of these fibers. So check your diet before going back to the beautician.

Reason 5: digestive disorders

This is another case where we can blame gluten: it affects the integrity of cells in the intestine and therefore the person acquires various disorders of the digestive system. Whole wheat bread contains a very important element for the human body: fiber. And refined flour products practically do not contain it. Just 5 to 6 pieces of whole-grain bread a day provide the daily amount of fiber. If you want to get the same amount of fiber from vegetables and fruits, you will have to eat 14 apples, or 21 carrots, or 25 tomatoes, or 2.3 kg of cucumber.

Reason 6: Premature Aging

As you may have noticed, white bread is a nutrient-starved product. By eating foods that do not contain necessary vitamins, our body cannot maintain freshness and youth. Therefore, flour consumers may look older than their age.

Reason 7: Addiction

Bread is addictive. Flour provides an incredible release of blood sugar and, as a result, the production of the hormone insulin. You only ate a little flour, but your sugar level went up and then went down quickly. That’s why you may want to eat fast carbs again, to feel a surge of energy. A sudden jump in blood sugar levels can even lead to diabetes.

Reason 8: overweight and obesity

It is one of the most important reasons for many when it comes to excluding flour from their daily diet. More than 70% of people who abruptly exclude bread from their diet lose weight within the first 2 weeks. 100 g of refined flour contains only 0.6 g of fiber, and the rest of its content is visibly deposited on your thighs, sides and abdomen in the form of love handles. Bread has an even higher glycemic index than chocolate bars. And the starch contained in baked goods quickly breaks down in the digestive tract and enters the bloodstream in the form of glucose, which means you will soon feel hungry again.
