What can you do for yourself?

The problem with many of us is that we believe that we will be happy when we reach a certain level in life. Unfortunately, this spiral of placing happiness in the future, and conditionally, can continue over time. Thus, this kind of carrot that we place in front of ourselves – depending on how we manage it – can be a great motivation or a constant source of frustration. Once the framework of the issue has been stated, the question is: what can you do for yourself?

Think that now (and its surroundings) is the only moment you are guaranteed. Now is life. Stop conditioning all happiness on the future or break the chains with the feelings of guilt that you drag from the past is Learning to live “here and now” is giving the present a chance.

People often say they haven’t found themselves yet. But, The self is not something one finds, but something one creates. There is only a small part of the universe that you are sure to be able to improve (even if sometimes you don’t know how), and that part is you.

“I moved to the forest because I wanted to live deliberately, to face only the essential facts of life, to try if I could not learn what it had to teach me, instead of waiting for the hour of my death to realize that I had not lived. ”.

-Henry David Thoreau-

Start creating your own happiness

When someone makes you happy, you somehow despise the ability you have to achieve it yourself. Happiness is often found wherever we decide to look for it.. If we look for happiness within the possibilities we have, it is very likely that we will find it.

In life, you rarely have an opportunity, it’s more about provoking it. We will never be totally sure that something will work, but we can always be sure that settling into inaction will not work. We have everything we need right now to take the next step. So go out and look for those opportunities.

Instead of waiting for big things to happen—marriage, children, winning the lottery—you can locate happiness in places that are closer, in less time.. I talk about those “little things”like drinking a cup of coffee, the smell of a homemade meal, the pleasure of sharing something you like, enjoying moments with your friends or your partner.

“Human happiness is generally not achieved by great strokes of luck, which may occur rarely, but by small things that happen every day.”

-Benjamin Franklin-

Start being yourself

Trying to be someone else is wasting the person you are. You can be yourself. Embrace the person in you. Be the person you know you are, work on the best version of yourself. That version that you have been putting aside for so long and that has become unknown due to lack of use, which you end in part because it has become precisely unknown.

One of the biggest challenges for people who want to improve is learning to accept what cannot be changed.. Sometimes it is better to accept, adapt, than go around and around what has no solution. Wanting a precise goal is not always about being able to achieve that precise goal. No matter how hard and sad the physical world may sound, it places limits on us that we cannot always jump or overcome. Thus, it is not about accepting a life of mediocrity, but learning to love and value things when they are not perfect, even oneself.

While many decide at some point in their lives to dedicate themselves to their vocations, few persist after encountering the first obstacles, the first falls, the first slips. Try to be the owner of your choices and mistakes, and don’t shy away from those reinforcements that will keep your motivation on, because motivation continues to be the light and energy that helps you move forward.

“If you are brave enough to be yourself, others will pay the price for you.”

–John Updike-
