How celebrities and their families reacted to movies and series made about their stories

Making a movie or series based on the life of a real person is a big challenge. Especially if she’s famous. It is necessary to think over many aspects of the biography, carefully select the actors and make sure that they reliably convey the character of your character, as well as enlist the support of the artist’s family. Sometimes directors succeed, sometimes they don’t.

The miniseries tells the story of the scandal involving the theft of an intimate video of Pamela Anderson and her now ex-husband Tommy Lee. Lily James said she tried reaching out to the star to play her authentically but never got a response.

Apparently, Pamela Anderson wasn’t too happy with the series’ release, plus there’s a rumor going around that she considers it a terrible joke, and the project itself a cheap hoax. The actress has no intention of attending it and does not want to be associated with it. It’s a moment in her life that she would like to forget, and she was shocked that someone decided to retract it.

Tommy Lee, who is drummer for the band Mötley Crüe, on the other hand, was happy to be portrayed in the miniseries. He revealed that he didn’t watch it, but talked to actor Sebastian Stan, who played him on screen: “From what Sebastian told me, it’s a very beautiful story. She’s really nice, although in real life she wasn’t.”

The film received many awards, but Liza Minnelli, daughter of the legendary Judy, made it clear that she was not going to watch it. She had previously said that she did not approve of the project and did not encourage the producers. Her only comment was dedicated to Renee Zellweger: “I hope Renee had a great time on set.”

Priscilla Presley, Elvis’ ex-wife, certainly enjoyed the film. She’s written extensively about the project and its importance on her social media page, suggesting that those who haven’t already watched it should check it out. In particular, she also praised Austin Butler’s excellent performance: “Austin has given Elvis’ life a new shine. We haven’t forgotten him, of course, but the film will help the younger generation understand why Elvis is still the king of rock ‘n’ roll. We were mesmerized by Austin’s performance.” Priscilla did not say anything about the actress who played her, however, she thanked her for her participation in the film.

Tennis stars approved of the film. Serena admitted that she cried while watching. Particularly, when viewing the scenes that portrayed his now deceased half-sister Yetunde Price. Venus Williams said the film underscored the role her family played in making champions.

The film is about the tragedy that happened to the family of the then richest man in the world, Jean Paul Getty, who had his grandson kidnapped. The boy’s mother, Abigail Harris, saw the first version of the film and liked what she saw, according to director Ridley Scott. She pointed out that his family was treated with respect, and that Getty was shown in a softer light than he really was.

The musician, member of The Beach Boys, talked a lot before filming with the actors who played him in different periods of life – Paul Dano and John Cusack. He wanted performers to become familiar with his manner of speaking and movements. After watching the film, the singer said that seeing Dano helped him to improve the performance of his compositions. There is a moment in the film where Paul sings, and Brian commented, “He really sang like me. He practiced to make his voice sound like mine, and it came out very similar.”

The singer’s brother, AB Quintanilla, said he watched all episodes of the series in one go. He praised the cast’s incredible work, which helped fans feel a little closer to Selena. On his page in social networks, he wrote that he wanted to personally congratulate everyone who took part in the filming.

Angelyne was a pioneer when it came to self-promotion, and much about her has been an enigma. She became famous for posting pictures of herself in provocative poses on billboards, which ended up attracting local media attention. Soon after, she was offered to star in movies, give magazine interviews and appear on television.

Although Angelyne is an executive producer of the series, she refused to watch it: “I saw it and I will not watch it. Didn’t do me justice. Would you be flattered if someone misinterpreted and misrepresented you?” She also pointed out that Emmy Rossum, who had the honor of playing her, looks nothing like her.

The film depicts the struggle of artist Margaret Keane against her own husband, who sold her paintings as if they were his own. When Tim Burton wanted to tell this story, Keane gave it the go-ahead. In the end, she was satisfied, although at first she was shocked: “This was the worst part of my life, so at first it hurt to look at it. But after a few days I started to realize how well everything turned out.”

Margaret was particularly impressed with the performance of Amy Adams, who portrayed her on the big screen: “I was blown away by her skill and talent. She showed exactly how I felt. I don’t know how she did it.”

Plot details and release date for the film are not yet known. The film will be directed by Luca Guadagnino, who has already been nominated for an Oscar; and scripted by Michael Mitnick. Mara is also involved in the production of the feature.

Sean Hepburn Ferrer, son of the legendary actress, said he was unaware of the project, but praised the choice of the actress, calling her “Charming”.
