As we said, stereograms are three-dimensional optical illusions that happen because of binocular vision: when we look at an object, our right and left eyes visualize it in a slightly different way and send this information to the brain for processing and translation into three-dimensional objects. Therefore, stereograms rely on this principle to create an illusion of depth.

You don’t need 3D glasses to identify the three-dimensional images of stereograms, but it takes a lot of creativity and patience, and the result is worth it! If you couldn’t see them with the naked eye, there are a few ways to do this:

The important thing is to blur the eyes of the image so that it is appreciated from the two perspectives of each eye.

You can focus your eyes on the center of the texture and slowly approach the image until it takes shape.

Position yourself 30 centimeters from the image and relax your vision until it blurs and doubles. This will make your eyes look away at different angles — in some of them, the hidden image will gradually appear. Watch it until it appears clear.

Many people, even if they perform these exercises, cannot visualize the images. This could be because of binocular vision problems. As we have shown, both eyes must see the same image at the same time. Those who have strabismus, lazy eye or any similar condition may not achieve this result as the brain processes images from a different concept of depth.
