We are not obliged to do anything. Life is meant to be lived unsupported.

Being kind, friendly and helpful is a great thing. If more people took some of their time and energy to help others, the world would probably be a much less hostile place and living would be a lot easier.

On the other hand, we should not confuse kindness with passivity. We must not allow them to abuse our good will and walk over us because we are good and we will accept and forgive everything.

I firmly believe in forgiveness. However, I also believe that only those who ask for forgiveness should be forgiven, those who really want to be forgiven, those who show repentance and a willingness to take a new direction.

No, we are not obliged to put up with everything. Patience has limits. No one should be forced to live together, to be kind and to distribute kisses and smiles to those who caused us suffering, to those who hurt us for free.

Most of the time, as the popular saying goes, whoever hits, forgets. But who catches not. When we more objectively offend or harm a person, causing damage to their life, we should rather try to fix what we did wrong or at least try to mitigate in some way the damage we caused.

Yes, it is not always possible to correct our mistakes. It is not always possible for someone to approach again those who have harmed to show their repentance. In some cases, staying away is the best thing to do. But it is often possible to go back and correct the mistake and still the person refuses to do so.

SEE ALSO: IT IS POSSIBLE, YES, TO BE HAPPY ALONE

Life is meant to be lived, not endured. When we feel obliged to forgive everything, ignoring our feelings, ignoring the wounds that are still open, we impose a kind of psychological torture on ourselves. And we should not impose suffering on anyone, including ourselves, to please other people.

No, we are not obliged to live with people who put us down with a fake smile on their lips and pseudo polite words. We are not forced to live with people who steal our air, who lower our energy, who cause us any kind of embarrassment. We are not obliged to please those who do not make the least effort to make us happy. We are not forced to sacrifice ourselves for those who don’t give a damn about our feelings. We are not obliged to understand and show sympathy for those who ran over us mercilessly.

We are the ones who know our limits and know how far we can go without pushing our goodness too much. We are the ones who can measure the weight of an offense and the extent of the damage suffered in our lives.
