Volunteers rescued two dolphins with their babies by making a human chain and recreating sounds and vibrations in the water

volunteers from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida, United States, rescued four dolphins trapped in a channel in the community of St. Petersburg — not to be confused with the city of the same name in Russia. The activists entered the water and formed a human chain while emitting sounds and vibrations with their hands, so that the mammals tried to return to the sea. The work, which took 45 minutes, was a success and prevented the animals from being endangered, as many boats pass through that area.

The dolphins were stranded in a dangerous channel.

A group of volunteer activists for the preservation of animals in Florida, United States, helped four dolphins trapped in a canal neighboring St. Petersburg, who were at risk of being injured by the propellers of the boats that pass through there.

At first activists hoped that the dolphins themselves would return to the high seas, but they did not.

Officials at the local wildlife department, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), told the media that the four mammals were trapped over the weekend but appeared to be doing well. Therefore, they decided to wait a day to find out if, on their own, they would return to their area, something that did not happen.

People made sounds and vibrations to keep animals away.

A unique experience for everyone who worked on the rescue

All the work took about 45 minutes and the dolphins followed the flow of humans, until they were safe in the sea. This activity surprised many people, including some volunteers who had such an experience for the first time.

“The volunteers didn’t give up, they didn’t look back and they didn’t even hesitate for a second. When they were done, they went home,” National Wildlife Federation representative Jessica Bibza said in a CMA video.
