Varnish Laces: healthier straightening than progressive –

Natural hair is on the rise, it’s true. More and more Brazilians are giving up the brush and flat iron to assume the beautiful curls.

But it’s also true that many still prefer the ease of smoother wires. Or they still love their waves, they just want to reduce the volume and frizz a little.

The problem is that abusing heat tools damages the cuticles and it is already known that the formaldehyde in progressive brushes also has the same effect. But today, there is already a new option on the market.

BRUSH WITH CARBOCISTEINE

Carbocysteine ​​uses cysteine, an amino acid that is responsible for the protein in the hair. That is, the hair is already done with it naturally.

According to own method patent, when it is applied to the strands, it breaks the sulfur bonds in the hair, responsible for the physical structure of the hair fiber (i.e. its curvature). With this weakening, it is easier to shape the wires in the format you want.

But, despite having less chemistry than straightening with formaldehyde, this method is not free of them. This is because it is necessary to reconnect the sulfur bridges that were broken and this happens with the addition of other elements.

Many manufacturers use ammonium triglycolate for this purpose, for example, an active as harmful as formaldehyde. But you can also use, for example, some acidic proteins, which are not aggressive and guarantee the health and softness of the threads.

Therefore, it is not just because it is made of carbocisteine ​​that it is healthy. You need to do a lot of research on the formula and manufacturer before you decide.

With these less aggressive options, straightening won’t be permanent (it usually lasts for a few months) but it will maintain their health.

VARNISH LACES ®

I tried smoothing with carbocysteine ​​from Laces and Haira salon known for always putting hair health as a priority.

It has a composition with acidic proteins and reduces the curvature even of the hair with it more accentuated.

“Because we don’t use strong chemicals, it doesn’t smooth as much as a progressive, but it leaves the strands much more aligned”, explained the hairdresser who took care of my hair.

The process begins with washing and drying the hair. Afterwards, the product is applied and then the treatment follows as a “normal” progressive: a little of the product is removed in the sink, then it is time for the brush + flat iron to align the strands.

Unlike some straighteners out there, you don’t have to wait 2 days to wash your hair again. It is washed in the salon itself, right after finishing the flat iron, and you leave with much more relaxed hair.

In my case, as I have a medium curl, my hair has already dried practically straight without a brush, but without that “licked” effect and without volume that I hated when I used a hair straightener 8 years ago.

In the photos below, you can see how it was before and how it still kept some points of curvature, which didn’t bother me at all.

The result should last up to 4 months.
