Time changes us all

Time, that concept that is so subjective and difficult to understand, is closely linked to human experiences. Discover their relationship and some practical ways to face the passing days.

Time is linked and fused to the experiences that we collect throughout our lives, so both things make us learn, know and change. In fact, We are so linked to time that it seems to lengthen or shorten depending on our mood and our life expectations.

Time, as they say, does not pass in vain, much less if we look at what we were ten years, five months or three weeks before the present moment; Well, it is already known that, furthermore, there is nothing more relative than years. In this sense, We usually measure time in key events that have marked us and that we will always remember for that reason..

“A man must live in the present and what does it matter who you were last week if you know who you are today?”

-Paul Auster-

Living means experience and experiences measure time

Any emotion that arises from direct contact with reality implies a change: We can travel and discover new models of life, find people with thoughts and customs that we did not know, start a family, lose people who we thought would be there forever, discover love and heartbreak, etc. All of this, without realizing it, will change us.

The truth is that living has different prices and one of them, as we know, is living experiences and linking them to our time in life. There will be moments that will mark us so much that we will believe that they have lasted longer than they really did and others that we will remember as fleeting. That is why we say that over time we change, because living has different prices and one of them is the one mentioned.

Normally, in addition, we tend to point to the most negative or most positive experiences that we can live as the culprits of our personality and, sometimes, even physical changes. The extremes will always make the difference: We will not forget true happiness, but neither will our falls and overcomings.

Don’t resist change

It is evident that In situations in which we experience emotional extremes we change, because these force us to reach the depths of ourselves and to see each other like we had never seen each other before. We know, then, things and values that we did not know, feelings that we had not had before and we are required to organize the disorder within us.

“When we are no longer capable of changing a situation, we face the challenge of changing ourselves.”

-Victor Frankl-

If we go through a bad time, we will probably come out of it stronger; If we have made a mistake, we will know what not to do again next time; If we have been happy, we will only settle for what is good for us and we will avoid sadness, etc.

What is certain is that we will never be the same after a new experience. or turning years: time will transform us and shape our person.

Resisting change, in fact, is useless. Wanting to avoid the fact that something has happened in our life and wanting to think that everything continues as it did before is of no use because the reality is that it is not like that. As someone once said: everything flows and everything remains. That is to say, Our essence will remain the same, but we will not be the same.

The key is knowing how to adapt and accept

If we cannot resist change, the only way to grow for the better as people is to accept it.. Renew ourselves and if, by some chance, we can no longer be faithful to our principles, create new ones that help us start over. It would be beneficial if we understood that time passes us by and only we decide what to do with it and how to take advantage of it.

In the same way that time changes oneself, it also changes the people around us. and, consequently, influences the relationships we have in common.

It is key to understand that accepting your own change is just as important as accepting that of the other.as long as it does not directly harm us: in these circumstances the other person probably also needs our adaptation.

“Why should we fear changes? All life is change. Why should we fear him?”
