This is how the police are in many countries

When we hear the word “policeman”, we quickly associate it (at least here in Brazil) with a person wearing a dark colored uniform – gray or black. This is so ingrained in our imagination that we can perceive the presence of a police officer from afar.

It turns out that when we visit another country, it takes us a while to recognize one of these professionals. For example, police in Washington State, USA, wear bow ties, while police in Fiji, an island in the Pacific, wear traditional skirts.
