This is how some “Twilight” characters should be if they were like in the books

The possibilities are very wide and it is possible to do “tests” to obtain the best results; however, it is very difficult to please everyone. As for the characters, it’s always difficult to meet expectations with the authors’ literal descriptions, and the saga Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer, is no exception. The protagonist, Bella Swan, in the books, is the one who narrates the story, and it is through her eyes that we get to know the characters. Even though in the movies, in general, good adaptations have been made, certain details shown on screens are a little different from what readers knew in the books.

In the books, the protagonist of the saga, Bella Swan, is described as a lonely young woman, uninterested in fashion and attractive, if in a strange way. Her hair is straight and straight, her eyes are too far apart and her lips are too thick for the fine line of her jaw. Kristen Stewart is, for the most part, considerably alike. However, her face is of a more balanced beauty than the character in the books, and in the first film her hair is not straight, but wavy.

In the novel, the protagonist Edward Cullen is described as a being of unimaginable beauty, and on several occasions Bella compares him to the Greek god Adonis. On his skin, he says he is like marble: white, hard as a stone and cold as ice. His hair, in Bella’s words, is always messy, bronzed in color, and his features are perfect and angular. In fact, Robert Pattinson’s decision to play the vampire was quite right, as the actor’s physical similarities to the character are clear. The only striking difference concerns the costumes, since, in the books, Edward Cullen is characterized by always wearing a light-colored leather jacket, which in the movies is not so evident.

Bella and Edward’s daughter, in the book, is a child of great beauty, with her father’s features and hair color, but with her grandfather Charlie’s curls and Bella’s coffee-colored eyes. Her skin is warm but strong like a vampire’s, and it glows in the sun. The girl has a very fast growth, that’s why, when the adaptation was taken to the screens, the result was a strange mixture between reality and digitalization, which gives her an unnatural aspect and not very similar to the literary character.

In Stephanie Meyer’s books, the werewolf Jacob Black is described as a very attractive Native American Quileute tribe with a ruddy complexion. Throughout the books, there is an evolution of the character, who has considerable physical development and leaves behind the childish touch that characterized him at the beginning to become a man of two meters in height and with enormous strength. When Bella first meets him, she emphasizes that he had long, shiny hair tied back, and this is one of the most important differences in the film adaptation, as, on screen, Jacob always appears with short hair.

Bella’s father, Charlie Swan, is an unsociable man, closed off, but kind-hearted. He is the chief of police for Forks, a quiet community. In general, the representation of the character in the film manages to recreate his personality well. However, as far as the physical aspect goes, there are two elements that are very different from the novel: the first is that Charlie’s mustache is not mentioned in the book, and the second is that his hair should be curly, when, in the movies, it is. straight.

Esme’s husband and the Cullen’s family man is a vampire who has made a commitment not to feed on human blood. As for his physical appearance, he appears, according to the book’s description, to be 23 years old and with blond hair. Bella mentions being more handsome than any movie actor, but looking tired. Actor Peter Facinelli manages to impersonate Carlisle quite correctly. However, he appears to be considerably older and his face does not show any signs of tiredness.

The mother of the Cullen family, Esme, like the others, is very beautiful and attractive. However, unlike her children and husband, her facial and body features are less strong, as her transformation took place shortly after giving birth. Bella describes her as slender yet rounded in shape, with beautiful caramel hair, dimples and a heart-shaped face. In the film, Esme embodies that beauty. However, the face of the actress who plays her has a more square shape, which takes away from the innocent silent movie actress Bella saw in her.

Alice, the Cullens’ adopted daughter and Edward’s sister, is distinguished by having the ability to see into the future. She has an optimistic personality and loves Bella like a sister. In the books, she is described as petite and graceful, very pretty, with messy black pixie hair. In the movies, she is, in general, very similar to Bella’s description, except for the important detail that the actress who plays her appears with burgundy hair, when it should be black.

Rosalie Hale, the Cullens’ adopted daughter and Emmett’s wife, has a physical age of 18. In the same way that the whole family is exceptionally beautiful, tall, thin and with wavy blond hair. There is also talk of her appearance, which is very intimidating. Actress Nikki Reed represents her very well in terms of physical features; however, it lacks a touch of exuberance and intimidation.

Jane, Alec’s sister, belongs to the Volturi guard and has the superpower to cause pain in the minds of others. She is petite and has short brown hair, full lips and an angelic face. On their first date, Bella mistakes her for a boy, due to her androgynous appearance. Jane is played by Dakota Fanning in the film adaptation, but her characterization is not very similar to the one depicted in the book, as, on screen, it is evident that Jane is a woman. Also, her haircut doesn’t match the original.

Aro, Jane and Alec’s teacher, is one of the leaders of the Volturi and has the power of telepathy. He is a cheerful and cordial vampire, even with a touch of optimism. His transformation took place around his 20s, so he looks quite young. Michael Sheen, who plays him, has a very similar appearance; however, the vampire’s eyes in the book are a dense red hue, which is not very clearly seen in the film. Also, he looks older than he should be.
