They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger (and it’s not true)

They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
All those catchphrases.
They seem to want to cheer us on in some kind of epic achievement.
Of superhuman effort.
Of heroism.
But deep down what they do is nullify what we feel.
Trying to downplay our present pain.
Little or big, but ours.
Trying to make it disappear with a stroke of the pen because there is always something worse.

Yes, obviously the worst of all is dying when you don’t want to die.
But that does not mean that we do not have the right to discomfort.
To express it, to live it, to be patient with it.
That does not mean that what is happening to us now is not something that deserves attention.
But not.
They want to produce us and for that we have to think that ours is less.
They want to thank us for the minimum.
In a slavery of the entrepreneurship of the self.

Saying at least I have this.
But this, many times, is nothing.
Touch what is unworthy.
It’s not life.
It doesn’t even come close.
But hey, push yourself.
If today there are ten, tomorrow twenty.
Throughout.
Everything is a result.
If there are no results, you are not worth it, you are not, you do not exist.

The more, the better.
Sometimes more is not better.
And it seems that we can achieve everything with effort.
That everyone starts from the same place, moreover.
That the goals must be the same.
In the hegemony of success.
Let’s fight battles.

But it turns out we can’t get it all.
Sometimes you try hard and you don’t get any results.
Sometimes you don’t try and you get everything.
This does not mean that you do not want what you want.
It means that there is a structure and it means that we are not omnipotent.
Sometimes what doesn’t kill you doesn’t make you stronger.
But it makes you weaker.

Weak because fears suddenly appear that were not there before.
Weak because you stop trusting.
Weak because you have to build armor to protect yourself from others.
And to say it, to make it visible, it’s fine, it’s perfect, it’s good to recognize our interdependence, our vulnerability.
Because what kills us.
It makes us more human.

They tell us to chase our dreams.
Just like that.
Follow your dreams.
As if to pursue something you don’t need time.
And as if you don’t need money to have time.

Human beings are crossed by circumstances.
These circumstances often make it impossible to pursue your dreams.
Because you have to take care of someone who needs you.
Because you have to work to be able to eat.
Because precariousness ties your feet to now and it is impossible to think about tomorrow.
Because you’re trying to survive.

When sickness or pain surrounds you.
You cannot undertake anything.
Because others need you.
They tell us to chase our dreams.

But sometimes the nightmare prevents us from moving.
Chasing dreams is a full-fledged privilege.
Because if you can chase something it’s because you don’t have chains.
Because you are free.
And most people are not.

Because we live in a system that does not want free people.
You want productive people.
He wants consumer people.
In order to continue to exist.

If we all followed our dreams, who would clean up our shit?
That’s why telling someone to follow their dreams.
It is often an incredible lack of respect.
It is a lack of empathy for the reality of so many people.
It is creating a frustration.
It is feeding a malaise.

Because making someone feel that what they have (or don’t have) is because they don’t make an effort.
That what happens to him is his fault.
It is a great meanness.
Before putting people to chase their dreams.
We should pursue our empathy.
The one that is so needed and that we use so little.
The one that is as simple as not doing what you don’t want to be done to you.
And do what you want them to do to you.
But how difficult it seems to be to find it in others.
Individual dreams destroy.
What matters are collective dreams.
Those who do
Let’s not leave anyone behind.
Never.
