There are a lot of people celebrating the disappearance of the number of likes on Instagram

This Wednesday (17), the Instagram released a test update of the application, in which the number of likes on photos are hidden. Although the novelty divided opinions when it first surfaced, many netizens are celebrating the social network’s decision.

On Twitter, people have used different arguments to celebrate the change. Some believe that such a transformation will really help preserve the mental health of those who use Insta. Others, jokingly, are happy to finally be able to post something without having to worry about how others will react.

But you have to be careful, because the new network update has an important detail about the visualization of likes. When an image is published and a person you follow likes it, the list of likes reappears – but without the number of likes. And more: just click on “other people” to see the list of everyone who liked that post. That way, you won’t see exact numbers, but you can get an idea of the volume of people who liked that photo.

This means that your group of friends will likely continue to see how your post is engaging, even without the explicit digits.

If no one from your social network likes the image, the likes are really absent. The comments continue to appear normally.
