There are 4 types of relationship. Which one of these does yours fit in?

Share:

Scientists at the University of Illinois, United States, carried out an experiment involving 376 couples. They observed their relationships for 9 months, trying to understand how people’s feelings change over time. As a result of this test, 4 types of couples were detected.

Here are the characteristics of each type of couple. Which describes yours? Tell us in the comments!

1. Troublesome but passionate

This is your relationship type if:

  • You spend very little time with your partner.
  • Their encounters are always exciting and passionate.
  • They fight a lot and then have passionate reconciliations.
  • The level of your feelings changes all the time.
  • Sometimes they break up to miss each other and start over.

Conclusion: These couples always remain in the ‘complicated’ state, but they do not break up more often than other couples.

2. Drama lovers

This is your relationship type if:

  • Your love story has many ups and downs,
  • You are prone to making decisions based on a negative experience from the past or life outside of the relationship.
  • You argue most of the time you spend together.
  • They prefer to spend their free time separately—each with their friends.

Conclusion: This type of couple breaks up twice as often as others. Less than half of the couples who participated in the experiment with this profile were married at the end.

3. Partygoers

4. Very united

This is your relationship type if:

  • They spend a lot of time together.
  • You have common hobbies and interests.
  • They think carefully before making a decision about the future of the relationship.
  • Your plans for the future coincide.
  • Resolve conflicts to reach an agreement.

Conclusion: This type of relationship turned out to be the happiest: 90% of the couples involved formed close-knit families.

Scientists’ conclusions

Based on the results of the research, the scientists came to well-defined conclusions. The feelings of the “troublesome but passionate” they are strong, but they end very quickly. The endless conflicts and power struggle of the “drama lovers” also often provoke a break. On the other hand, party-goers and those united, for the most part, form stable families.

Of course, there is no perfect formula and everyone decides on their own how they want to love, but understanding what your type of relationship is can certainly help you and your better half to improve your love story.
