Basic tips

Before washing the curtains in the washing machine, it is clear that you must consider the type of material they are made of. In any case, the first tip is to always choose delicate products and wash at low temperatures.

It is therefore essential to remove the hooks to prevent them from being damaged in the washing machine drum.

Be careful, then, with excessively heavy loads. In the case of very large and long curtains, it is advisable to wash them one at a time so as not to make the device too heavy. Lastly, do not leave the curtains in the drum for too long. They should be removed from the washing machine immediately after washing to avoid unwanted wrinkles.

The curtain label already announces the appropriate type of washing, however, generally for cotton curtains you can set the delicate program at a temperature of 30° with a spin cycle of 600 rpm.

However, for synthetic washing machines, it is better to choose a temperature of 30°.

Pay attention, then, to linen or silk curtains. In the first case, in fact, it is advisable to set the centrifuge to 400 rpm or 800 (with wrinkled linen fabrics). However, never exceed the spin speed of 400 for silk curtains.

How to avoid ironing

Washing at low temperatures and low spin cycles help prevent the curtains from becoming too wrinkled. To avoid ironing there are two other little tricks. The first is to hang them when they are still a little damp. The weight will stretch them perfectly.

Another little trick could be to add a little fabric softener during washing. This particular detergent tends to weigh down fabrics with a protective, scented patina.
