The greatest proof of love you can give someone is your time.

Time and interest. These are the two words that we have to engrave in our minds.

They are the two most valuable things you can give someone. No expensive gift, or even simpler gestures like flowers and chocolates, none of this comes close to the value of someone’s time and interest.

It’s horrible to worry about someone who doesn’t care about you, or who only comes to you when they want something, like help or something else.

Time these days is a precious commodity.

Everyone wants an extra hour in the day, because we know that life is more hectic, more chaotic and full of things to do. That’s why, when someone takes even five minutes out of their day to send a message to those they love, asking how they are doing, it’s not just a gift, it’s a gift.

We all like to feel important in each other’s lives. Showing interest in everyday life, plans, or what the other is or is not doing shows concern. We want and need to know that someone cares about us.

People today with technology, which would be to bring people together more, are making them go into automatic mode. Short, thick answers, without feeling, affection or interest.

Nothing is more disappointing than you worrying about someone, sending a message asking if everything is ok and the person just answering “yes”.

The lack of interest hurts, it may not seem like it but it leaves a hole in the chest, even more if you like the person and you care about them.

Unfortunately what we do for others does not mean they will do for us.

If you’re dedicating your time and interest to someone who doesn’t give a damn about it, don’t feel stupid.

Know that you are giving the best gift anyone could ever want to receive.

Not that the treats I mentioned above, the gifts, are not good to receive. They are, but nothing like presence, concern, time and interest. For me, that’s the most important thing.

Now, it’s time to see if you’re dedicating it all to the right person. As I said, time is a gift, so don’t waste it on those who don’t deserve it.
