A good part of our weaknesses as human beings have to do with how we manage our mental resources. We talk about how we look at the past, how we place ourselves in the present or how we project ourselves into the future…

The main strengths and weaknesses of human beings have to do with the functioning of the mind. What we have in our heads is what has allowed us, individually and as a species, to face great adversity and accomplish impressive feats.

Just as there are feelings and attitudes that strengthen us, there are also There are weaknesses of human beings that represent obstacles to achieving our goals.. It doesn’t matter what the culture, social class or race is. These weaknesses inhabit us all to a greater or lesser extent.

The weaknesses of human beings are those feelings and attitudes that become limitations. They slow down our progress because they lead us to exhausting and unprofitable perspectives from a psychological point of view. Ten of them are the following.

The most dangerous of all weaknesses is the fear of appearing weak.”.

-Jacques Benigne Bossuet-

1. Cowardice

Cowardice occurs when we allow fear to prevail in difficult and risky situations. This leads to the absence of courage, but also determination and will.

Facing dangers is not only for the brave, but also for the prudent. There is cowardice only when one avoids taking a reasonable risk, or when out of fear one gives up what one wants.

We could say that this is one of the great weaknesses of human beings today. It is not just an intellectual problem, or one that affects cognitive activities only.

Lack of concentration prevents us from focusing on our feelings, our ideas and our goals. Therefore, it is almost always accompanied by a trivial and scattered life.

5. Distrust, one of the great weaknesses of human beings

General distrust is another of those fruits of fear. When you mistrust everything and everyone a priori, what is deep down is a deep insecurity.

We fear the world because we feel unable to overcome its difficulties and vicissitudes. More than distrusting others, what we distrust is our own power.

6. Impatience

This is another of those human weaknesses that are very typical of our time. That inability to wait, to let be and flow, is one of the marks of our time.

Slowness or lack of progress causes restlessness and nervousness, fueled in turn by a fearful look towards the future.

7. Envy

Envy has to do with the suffering caused by the virtues or achievements of others. What is actually envied is not those virtues or successes, but the feeling of satisfaction. what it generates for those who have or obtain them.

9. Dependency

We are all dependent to some extent, but for some people this is the hallmark of the relationships they form, not only with others, but with the world at large.

Obstinacy makes us weaker, because it is inspired by unreasonable motives. Determination and tenacity are one thing, and stubbornness is quite another. In this last What prevails is a childish desire to impose one’s will or to achieve something desired. It does harm because it generates unnecessary suffering, perhaps for objectives that are not so important.

These weaknesses are realities to which we are all exposed.. Probably most of us have incurred one or more of them at some time, when they hurt us. That is why it is important to know how to manage them when they appear on our horizons.
