thanks for still being here

I’ve wanted to say this for a while, but I always leave it for later. The truth is that we don’t always say what we feel, but we think it’s okay if, silently, we’re sure that it’s inside us.

Today I woke up happy and nostalgic, I was imagining what it would be like if one day you just left my life without me having the opportunity to say. For this, today I am filled with gratitude and I say with all the letters: thank you for staying.

Thank you for being the light that lights my way, for being the hope of peaceful nights in my days of apocalyptic chaos. Maybe I’m not always sure how important it is to have you in my life, but believe me, without you, life would be much more complicated.

It’s nice to know that, for some crazy reason, there’s a person who likes to be around, who always makes a point of staying. It’s just that we live surrounded by so many indecisions in our path and with so many doubts about ourselves, that it’s a relief to know that we are someone’s certainty.

Thank you for all the times you stayed without me having to ask. For allowing me to always leave the door open, knowing with relief that you wouldn’t walk through it. It is rare when we find someone who comes and parks their life next to ours, even more so when we are so used to being mere passengers in the lives of others.

I’m grateful for accepting myself the way I am, with all my emotional messes, quirks, and bad moods. For not trying to change my essences and for understanding my weaknesses. By the way, I’m sorry for being this pit of imperfections and mistakes, but the truth is that by your side I become a better person, because I know that you always deserve the best from me.

Thank you for insisting and for believing in love, even in the times I disbelieved. For always being around and showing me the best way. Thank you for staying, even when there’s not enough reason to, even when leaving seems like the easiest solution. Thank you for never giving up on me.

The truth is that only you are my safe haven when the waves of life want to drown me. Thank you for being this lightness in this heavy world, and for putting that sincere smile when you are by my side. Thank you for making me special and for always being this landscape so beautiful for my eyes.

I thank you for all the words, the moments and the dreams. For making me dream and smile fully. For showing me that life can be a joyful song in the midst of the deafening silence of dawn and for teaching me that, in the end, love is only paid for with more love.

Thank you for everything, thank you for always. Thanks for still being here.
