“Take care” is an I love you in disguise. Love is in the details

Love rejoices with the simplicity of that good morning that makes our heart race when someone remembered us first thing in the morning. In that “take care” as someone who actually wants to take care of us, or that “you look so beautiful” that makes our hearts jump out like someone overflowing with love.

I see love in the little details and I believe it’s these things, these little things, that sustain love in a relationship. You don’t need expensive dinners and absurdly priced gifts to win a heart. It doesn’t need public statements and a prince with the car of the year to draw sighs.

It’s that “can I see you today?” in the middle of the week that arrives in an uncompromising way, free of excuses that jump out our eyes and hearts. How good it is when we come across in the middle of the day with a message that tells us “I miss you”. How comforting it is when the other person takes us by the hand and says that “everything will be ok”, even though the problems are huge and want to swallow us. Our heart rejoices when the other decides to stay and keeps us company, dispensing with words and offering his presence.

I’ve always preferred presence to gifts, I’ve always enjoyed watching a movie embraced even without understanding a comma of what’s on the screen, even without understanding the story and knowing who the hero is. That’s because, I understood perfectly what was going on inside me, a heart happy to be in the company of someone I love. I see love in that flower plucked on the street just to say “I remembered you”. I see love when the request for orange juice, to accompany dinner, comes before I even say it, because the other knows I don’t drink soda. When I get a call just to find out how my week was and if I somehow need something. This spontaneous interest makes me feel that someone cares about me.

Love rejoices with simplicity, it is in the small details that the heart accelerates, it is with these everyday feats that love rekindles its flame every day. It’s that cafuné that lavishes affection that makes us want to dive into the same love story every day.

It’s the one who proves every day in some way, in a way of showing how much you want to stay and how important we are. I feel loved with that “let me know when you arrive, to know if you arrived well” after a trip. My heart overflows when even with so many thorns in life, love brings me flowers and makes hope reborn in me.

I see love in the tight hug, in the song sent with a touch of “pay attention to the lyrics”, in the smile on the corner of my mouth when I’m disconcerted by some compliment. I see love in that one I thought of you when I saw it followed by that image that makes us laugh, that grace and inside joke that only you and that someone can decipher. I see love in the eyes that shine, in the voice that chokes, in the touch that dismantles us and in the words that heal our wounds.

A good morning always says more than just a good morning, an I love you in an unpretentious way always says something more, just like taking care, good night and the countless ways to say I thought of you. Only those who see love in the small details can read the love between the lines of sentences like these. It’s the details that make the heart race, that make the soul bloom and the heart overflow.
