Stars are born from chaos (personal transformation)

People, like stars, also transform from chaos, from that conjunction of forces where we must not lose courage or confidence that sooner or later, we will shine again. Even in the darkness we can emerge with greater energy.

They say that stars are born by chance. They are the spectacular result of a conjunction of nebulae, a chaotic conglomerate of gases, dust and heat that ultimately causes nuclear fusion. Something that is initially governed by the combination of different forces has a wonderful result. Our personal transformation on the journey of life often follows this same process.

On their arduous cosmic path, stars also evolve and remain in our cosmos, dealing with a tense balance between gravity and their nuclear reactions.

Human beings don’t have it easy either and, even so, we look at those luminous stars suspended in the sky every night thinking that everything there is calm and governed by a dreamy and enviable temperance.

However, We all struggle with our problems, with our personal challenges. Furthermore, few principles are as universal in any scenario as that of transformation, as that property present in any being, in any star or chemical component.

We transform to survive, to adapt to environmental pressures or simply to move forward.

It is a process not free of fears and insecurities. However, as Rollo May, existentialist psychologist, said, Every transformation frees us and that is something that is also sought in psychological therapy.. Generate a change so that the person achieves well-being and feels free to continue fulfilling themselves.

Personal transformation: the rising star within us

Almost any culture has in its roots some symbol that represents the process of personal transformation.. Carl Jung was undoubtedly one of the most prominent references in the study of that symbolic legacy that, almost unconsciously, we all have ingrained in our minds.

The image of a caterpillar giving way to a butterfly, for example, is a very popular representation of change and transformation itself.

The snake that sheds its skin would be another one that we all easily identify. Likewise, the phases of the Moon would be another clear representation. The stars mentioned above make up another good reference.

However… What do we really mean from a psychological point of view when we talk about “transformation”? This is a point where we should stop to understand this idea much better.

Periods of crisis drive change

Stability, Stillness, and Calm Rarely Drive Personal Transformation. No one wants a change when what they have brings them satisfaction or, at least, the calm of living in that comfort zone where what they have is considered enough. Now, there are vital stages where the crack of the unforeseen arises and soon, the imbalance, the tremor and the chaos.

Crises can be brought about by life transitions themselves.. Going from childhood to adolescence or from adolescence to adulthood would be an example. They are also caused by losses, separations and any event in our environment that collapses the foundations of what we took for granted.

Every trauma often gives way to a need: that of a personal transformation, to that change where she sheds her skin, where she models a stronger, more self-confident and luminous self. Because let’s not forget that all chaos is a conjunction of energies and like the stars with their gases and fusions, in the end, a new, brighter being emerges capable of illuminating the darkness itself.

The same person, but with new psychological “layers”

We pointed out at the beginning that one of the purposes of psychological therapy is to generate changes in people so that they achieve balance and well-being.

However, When we talk about personal transformation we do not set the goal of changing someone until they assume a new personality, with new tastes, new goals and other values. Absolutely.

A transformation implies remaining the same, but with better resources. It is adding psychological layers to calm fears and awaken temperance. It is turning the internal chaos that every crisis generates into a learning lesson to clarify what we need, what we deserve and what our priorities are.

Any personal transformation exercise forces us to enable ourselves in the internal language of emotionsactivate self-esteem to build goals that guide us, that excite us towards achieving a better future.

Personal transformation is visualizing the person you want to be and working on it.

Every personal transformation is a mobilizing process where thoughts flows, anxieties, the pressure of the environment, the shadow of fear and the sense of hope. It is a complex conglomerate that adheres to us like a chrysalis, like a packaging so that this internal battle is balanced little by little and day by day.

No change is easy nor is it achieved in two weeks or a month. However, as we continue in that work, it is important not to lose sight of one idea.

We must be very clear about the person we want to be. As Abraham Maslow, one of the most prominent psychologists of the humanist movement, explained to us, no change will be possible if we do not have a clear awareness of what we are now and what we want to achieve.

We can choose to be nebulae, simple gases in suspension and cosmic dust without any further purpose, or proceed to generate that transformation in which we remain involved for a time in the midst of chaos to finally give shape to a star. That which we all carry within us and that we must awaken, encourage and ignite in order to reach our full human potential.

That is a task in which we are always on time.
