#Sextou: understand why the hashtag is blocked on Instagram

the hashtag #sextou it is certainly one of the most used by Brazilians on Instagram: we bet that, if you yourself are not a fan, there are at least some people on your social networks who cannot resist posting a photo, video or gif celebrating the arrival of Friday -fair. #Friday!

So it was a surprise to discover that Instagram blocked our simple hashtag. Where are the photos of friends gathered at the bar, beer glasses being emptied and people venting the tensions of the week? Gone!

Our very popular hashtag was discovered by gringos. But for those who speak English, #sextou can have a very different meaning. From one hour to another the photos of friends in bars, gifs of clubs and drinks turned into… a porn tag.

For gringos, “sextou” can be read as “sex to u”, which would be more or less “sex for you” in Portuguese. And because of that, where there used to be hundreds of innocent photos, high slutty could be found. Until Instagram blocked the hashtag.

Obviously, the Brazilians were very hurt. GIVE BACK OUR FRIDAY!
