Trusting that He will make everything right, as long as I surrender to His will so that I am reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him eternally in the next. Amen.”

Serenity Prayer Saint Francis

“Where there is hate, may I bring love.
Where there is offensive words, shall I bring forgiveness.
Where there is discord, may I bring unity.
Where there are doubts, may I take faith.
Where there is error, may I bring the truth.
Where there is despair, I may bring hope.
Where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Where there is darkness, let me bring light.

O Master, make me seek more:
console, to be consoled;
to understand, to be understood;
to love, to be loved.
It is in giving that we receive.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
And it is by dying that we live for eternal life.

Let us pray:

Glorious Saint Francis, saint of simplicity, love and joy, who in heaven contemplates the infinite perfections of God, cast upon us your gaze full of kindness. Help us with our spiritual and bodily needs. Pray to our Father and Creator, to grant us the graces that we ask for through your intercession, you who have always been such a friend to him. And inflame our hearts with ever greater love for God and our brothers, especially those most in need.

Saint Francis of Assisi, pray for us. Amen.”

Serenity Prayer Just for Today

1. Just for today I will try to live this day of mine exclusively, without wanting to solve the problem of my life, all at once.
2. Just for today I will be extremely careful with the way I treat others: delicate in my manners; I will not criticize anyone, I will not intend to improve or discipline anyone but myself.
3. Just for today I will feel happy with the certainty that I was created to be happy not only in the next world, but also in this one.
4. Just for today I will adapt to the circumstances, without pretending that the circumstances adapt to my desires.
5. Just for today I will dedicate ten minutes of my time to a good read, remembering that just as it is necessary to eat to sustain my body, so reading is necessary to nourish the life of my soul.
6. Just for today I will do a good deed without telling anyone about it.
7. Just for today I will do something I don’t like and if I am offended in my feelings I will make sure no one knows about it.
8. Just for today I will make a very complete program of my day. Maybe I won’t do it perfectly, but in any case, I’ll do it. And I will guard myself well against two calamities: haste and indecision.
9. Just for today I will remain firm in the faith that Divine Providence takes care of me, even if there were only me in the world, even if circumstances show otherwise.
10. Just for today I will not be afraid of anything. In particular, I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful and I will not be afraid to believe in goodness.

Psalm of serenity

It is believed that reading any psalm with faith has the power to promote spiritual cleansing and inner peace. But each text is usually related to a specific topic in life. Psalm 11, for example, is closely linked to trust in God and serenity:

1. In the LORD I trust; How do you say to my soul: Flee to your mountain like a bird?
2. For behold, the wicked bend their bow, they put their arrows on the string, to shoot with them in the dark at the upright in heart.
3. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?
4. The Lord is in his holy temple, the throne of the Lord is in heaven; his eyes are attentive, and his eyelids test the sons of men.
5. The Lord tests the righteous; But his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.
6. He will rain snares, fire, brimstone and stormy winds on the wicked; this will be the portion of your cup.
7. For the Lord is just, and loves justice; his face looks at the straight ones.
