If you’re feeling sad, discouraged, and hopeless because you’ve been single for a long time, there’s no need to despair. Because? Because science has already proven that being in a relationship will make you gain a few pounds.

Yes, you are single and you desperately want to find the love of your life. You really want to be in a relationship with someone. You want the protection and security that comes when you wrap yourself in the sweet embrace of someone you love. But you are single. You haven’t exactly been so lucky in love. But that’s okay – being single is fine if you want to shed those pounds.

There was a recent study conducted by a university in Australia that analyzed over 10 years of data from over 15,000 people. What these studies have shown is that people who were involved in happy relationships exhibited an average weight gain of more than 6 kg more than those who remained single.

What these studies also revealed is that people in happy relationships showed an average weight gain of around 5 pounds each year that they remained happily in love.

Know that the whole theory of gaining weight in a relationship is completely true, and you should take it seriously if you’re conscious of your waistline.

So if you’ve been dating someone for a long time, you probably know that you’re less encouraged to hit the gym and burn those fats because you know you already have someone who will love you no matter what you look like.

In addition to the lack of encouragement, you are also more likely to consume more calories and spend more time doing nothing because you are in a relationship. You’re going to have to eat a lot more because you’re going to be on a lot of dates with your love.

And before you know it, boom! You gained an extra 6 pounds without putting much effort into it. It is always very easy to fall into this trap of living a very sedentary lifestyle when you are very involved with your love and relationship.

However, you shouldn’t be too embarrassed. Yes, you crossed the line a little bit. Yes, you might be a little disappointed in yourself, especially if you used to be the type of person who really focused on your fitness and well-being.

However, you should never be ashamed of yourself. You have found love in your life. And even if you’ve lost some of your motivation to stay in shape, you have something that many other people in the world would like to find.

You might take some solace in the fact that you might even be healthier than most single people because you’re in a relationship despite your weight gain. These same studies have shown that people in relationships tend to consume less fast food, alcohol and cigarettes when compared to single people.

And even though couples in relationships eat more; they are also improving the quality of their food without even realizing it. However, the truth is that couples can actually gain weight in a relationship and are more likely to become overweight when compared to singles.

And if you really want to blame your extra inches on your partner, then you can always turn to this study for evidence to back you up.

In fact, there was another study done by a popular university in Dallas that came to the same conclusions. This study lasted for years and covered over 200 newlyweds. It is not a phenomenon that targets only one aspect of society. It’s happening all over the world.

The truth is, many people gain weight whenever they start to feel satisfied with themselves. The happier people are in life, the more likely they are to gain weight.

To put it simply, the happier you are in your relationship, the fatter you will be.

So don’t be too discouraged about having a few extra inches in your waist. It’s much better to be fat and have someone to love than to be skinny and spend all Friday night alone.
